Best educatonal book on eclipses for young children,
By IIJuan12 (Sugar Land, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Eclipse: Darkness in Daytime (Let's Read and Find Out) (Paperback)
I used this book while teaching a unit on astronomy to 3rd graders. It has drawings(which appeal to this age group) rather than photographs. It includes just enough factual information in an appealing manner.

Eclipse: Darkness in Daytime (Let's Read and Find Out)
This is another great book in the series. Wonderful illustrations. the information is simple and direct. They try to address the questions kids have about eclipses. Partial eclipses, Annular eclipses, total eclipses. How can the huge sun be blocked out by the much smaller moon? They give an experiment to demonstrate how that happens. How do scientist's know when another one will happen and where will the shadow fall? When will they happen again and where? Did YOU know that animals are often confused by eclipses? People used to be frightened when an eclipse happened and they made up stories (myths) to explain it. There is a note about eclipse safety and how to create a viewer for yourself.
