Tommy Flanagan is one of the finest bop piano players; he's got unequaled lyricism and fine technical command.
Each side closes with a Bird tune... Camarillo is played real up. Mraz has his unique bass sound. Jones plays mostly brushes, which is a nice treat.
This album is one of the best bebop records I own... I've owned this in vinyl for more than 15 years, and it still sounds fresh.

5.0 out of 5 stars no non-sense, October 27, 2004

Tommy Flanagan, Jiri Mraz and Elvin Jones all at the top of their games, and all in sync. This cd contains some nice bop tunes (relaxin' at camerillo, confirmation) and eclypso, a flanagan original with a latin beat to it. This is one of the good piano trios of all times. I think it was recorded shortly after Flanagan returned to leading a band and playing jazz (he had a stint as an accompanist for Billie Holliday for a long time, a strange move for someone who was part of Trane's rythm section).
