About the Author
Originally from London, England, Sass Brown is a full-time professor in the Fashion Design department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She has worked with women's cooperatives in Latin America, most notably COOPA-ROCA in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Pretty much includes anyone who made an organic t-shirt - not selective or in-depth at all. Photos aren't even worth it.

Author Sass Brown offers a new eco fashion design paradigm. Her thesis contends that eco or sustainable design has moved beyond the "granola" to handcrafted clothing using traditional methods that are both beautiful and innovative. And in celebrating good design, she recognizes that fashion can indeed be sustainable as well, from design to wear.

Both are easy to read, yet insightful, and the site provides an ongoing compendium of "designer" eco fashion. The book, featuring beautiful photography, is just as at home on a coffee table as it is in the classroom.
