Product Description

100% HANDMADE IN THE U.S.A. This lot contains six 100% wool dryer balls made by "A Little Green Bee". They are completely made out of wool, inside and out. We use wool roving to form the ball. They are a little larger than the size of a tennis ball and will shrink slightly over time. They are "All-Natural". All natural means that this product is 100% free from any synthetic fibers. These cute little felted wool balls are designed to reduce drying time, soften fabrics, cut down on static, decrease lint, and reduce wrinkles. Because they are reusable, you will never need to purchase fabric softener or dryer sheets. And unlike other wool dryer balls made from yarn, they will not unravel and will last for years. Over time your Wool Dryer Balls will develop pills on them (If they bother you- just run a sweater depiller or light razor over them to remove pills). These balls last for years and the more pilling the better. Pills = softer clothing because there is more surface friction. They get better with age. Put away those chemical dryer sheets, protect your family and the environment, and go green with natural dryer balls! .

I bought these dryer balls after looking for a better solution than the green/blue plastic dryer porcupine-type balls that I had been using. Not that those porcupine-type balls did a "bad" job, but sometimes the little spikes would fall off. I'm also one of those people who gets worried about toxins being released from heated plastic. Maybe those fears are unfounded, but these wool balls just seemed like a good alternative to try, both from an ecological and quality viewpoint.

Being as they are quite a bit more expensive (by the order of about 2-3 times as much) than the ubiquitous porcupine-type balls, I was a bit apprehensive, at first. However, I bit the bullet and ordered them.

PROS
I throw all 6 balls in at a time (to hopefully maximize drying efficiency) and they seem to work splendidly! Now, if you're used to the efficiency of a pair of good porcupine-type balls, you probably won't notice a huge difference in drying efficiency. I perceive "some" positive difference, but it could just be the placebo effect.

Regardless, if you're looking for a solution that lets you eliminate the constant waste from those dryer sheets while using as natural of materials as possible, look no further.

CONS
Because they are made of highly compacted wool, they do tend to accumulate debris rather easily. For example, if they take an accidental roll on the floor, they're probably going to pick up a good bit of unwanted hair, fuzz, etc. The good news is, they can be lint-rolled and/or machine-washed easily to restore them back to perfectly clean condition.

Oh, and they arrive perfectly spherical balls, but after a few uses, their shaped becomes a bit oblong-ish.

These work great! We use cloth diapers and this is the only thing that works to take out static that is safe for the diapers. We use them for all of our clothes as well. I also really appreciated this seller because they sent me a hand written note that included a percentage off my next purchase.

I can't tell that the wool balls reduce dryer time any. They do help with some static electricity but not as much as I thought they would. I do like that they are natural and I'm not using chemicals, but overall they don't work as well as dryer sheets.

Addition to my original review:

I now realized that I need more than 6 dryer balls for the large loads that I normally do. When I use the 6 I have for small loads, they work much better at reducing static electricity.

They are fantastic. I use two and they keep the static down. I even put essential oil on the balls themselves and they make my clothest smell great. Exactly what I wanted.

I have been using the plastic dryer balls from the store, which are cheaper and do the job well. They cut my drying time buy 1/3. But after using them for six months they are dissolving in my laundry. So went on line and found these, they arrived quickly and are wonderful, less noise in dryer and should last much longer. I have a large capacity dryer and keep nine wool balls in dryer at all times. Love Love these things, wish I had known about them earlier, could have saved a lot of money through out all the years washing my families clothes. I would highly recommend maybe 12 wool balls if you have to go to a laundry mat, Their dryers are huge and you have to keep feeding the dryer more and more money if your clothes are not dry. I am thinking of giving them to brides at bridal showers along with a laundry ball. But haven't tried those yet. Will update as I see how they work.

I LOVE these. I ordered six and loved them so much that I ordered eight more. I have read that the more you use the faster your dry time and the better they work - this appears to be accurate. My dry time has definitely been shortened.

I can not say enough about how much I LOVE the SMELL I get from my laundry now! I have switched to using these wool dryer balls and to using Allen's laundry detergent (Amazon - you need to carry this detergent!) as I am preparing to use cloth diapers. I am not sure if the smell is coming from the detergent, or the dryer balls, or a combination of both, but regardless I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The closest comparison I can think of is like that of line drying your laundry in the sunshine; there is certain smell that comes from doing so that leaves your laundry with a very distinct and lovely smell that only comes from line drying. The smell from these is similar to that but with its own uniqueness. And I have to say it is one of the most heavenly smells, so much so that I can't resist smelling my laundry (especially my towels) every time I walk past.

I wash a lot, and am meticulous in making sure that things get clean, however, after the first day (if you're lucky) any good smell is always gone, not matter what I do, how I wash or what I use. The most noticeable are the towels; which I am guessing is because they are the ones that are closest and most frequently by my face. Quite frankly, I think they stink most of the time, even though they are freshly laundered, and they are frequently tossed right back in the laundry though they have just been washed.

With using the Allen's and the dryer balls everything smells marvelous! And not just immediately after washing.
