4.0 out of 5 stars Nice sub for the daily starbx cup!
I've been looking for a non-breakable substitute for my daily Starbucks cup...I've put at least 5 trees to death with my coffee habit!

There are lots of ceramic cups on the market, but I'm not graceful enough to be trusted with them (plus, they're heavy). This melamine cup is a great solution, and it travels with me everywhere...car, stores, office, etc...

3.0 out of 5 stars great service
Great service from the company - very speedy delivery!! I like the size, the material of the actual cup, but am disappointed in the lid. I washed it several times, but still get the taste and smell of rubber when I drink my coffee from this.

I've been looking for a non-breakable substitute for my daily Starbucks cup...I've put at least 5 trees to death with my coffee habit!

There are lots of ceramic cups on the market, but I'm not graceful enough to be trusted with them (plus, they're heavy). This melamine cup is a great solution, and it travels with me everywhere...car, stores, office, etc.

I've dropped it, hand-washed it, dish-washered it, left it in the car overnight in 20-degree weather...and it's still going strong.

Unfortunately, it's not microwaveable, but that's a small price to pay for the convenience and the lessened guilt adding all those paper cups to our landfills.

Don't confuse this with a thermos...it doesn't hold coffee heat much better than a paper cup...if you want that kind of retention, get a thermos and pour into any cup instead (even the metal insulated cups won't hold heat well because the lids are mainly plastic with sip holes, and plastic alone is not a good heat conserver).

This cup is a great product at a worthwhile price...it'll make a nice gift for my friends as well. Just hope the paper companies don't hate me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not insulated, January 6, 2011

I bought this cup for my husband for Christmas last year (2009) and he likes it okay. The lid does not leak around the edges and it holds 12 oz of coffee, but the problem is the cup is not insulated. The cup becomes really hot to hold. I knitted a cozy to go over top so he could use it comfortably. He hardly uses it, but it works okay.

4.0 out of 5 stars Completely recommended!, April 27, 2011
This review is from: Eco Friendly Reusable Melamine 12 oz Coffee Mug / Tea Cup
This is an awesome reusable coffee cup! The design is sleek; the cup is light and fits nicely into my hand. It's really easy to clean. An added bonus that it comes in the 12oz size, since a small coffee is all I need.

Cons: the lid does have a faint rubbery smell: I usually take it off before drinking coffee. Also, the "virtually unbreakable" claim is not true: I managed to crack my cup twice by dropping it on the pavement. My first cup lasted me a year, but I'm still willing to buy the exact same cup.

We had an issue with two 16oz cups we had ordered. Simple Luxuries handled the situation quickly and to our full satisfaction. Thank you very much.

These are great. A good size. The top is flexible silicone, which is nice to drink from. I was always hesitant to have an open cup of coffee near my computer; I use these cups at my desk because they're covered.

great alternative to paper cups from the drive thru.....several local places will actually fill it for me rather than use another paper cup.
Suggest preheating with hot water if using at home. Keeps coffee hot for about 10-15 minutes.

"Melamine is described as being "Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Chronic exposure may cause cancer or reproductive damage. Eye, skin and respiratory irritant." (Wikipedia) True, you need a lot of it for it to be harmful, but why take the chance? Especially when there are many alternatives. Haven't we learned the lessons of BPA?
