5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
I installed the solar coolar as instructed - and though I have tinted windows (tinted shade that was recommended by state of Missouri) and the fan responded immediately. I have to leave my car in a exposed area and it gets extremely hot - this device really helps. I use it along with a sun reflector shade.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so great
This fan simply does not move enough air to be effective. It's a good idea, but even in full sun the fan isn't powerful enough to keep the car cool. I removed the fan and used a windshield sunshade and the sunshade made a big difference.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fan power is too small and ineffective, September 8, 2010

Tried the fan for a week. Didn't make a difference. Product is advertised "to keep your parked car cool and comfortable upon re-entry"... fails to do that! Can barely feel the fan (really can't feel it but I give it the benefit of the doubt). Needs full/direct sun. Doesn't work even with a small tree leaf in the way. Item looks sleek and very nice. Great idea. Wished it would work the way it was advertised to... but sadly it doesn't and will return it back to amazon.com. Purchased for $28 + FREE SHIP.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Idea product lacking, September 7, 2010

This is an excellent idea however the product lacks in design. It doesn't always work even in full sun. The window I have it on is not tinted and its clean so I think the unit just doesn't pick up enough voltage from the solar panel at times. Also if you don't have vent visors on your car, youll have to use the included window guards to prevent rain or debris from falling into your car window as this unit forces you to keep the window open slightly. It also does not seem to move a lot of hot air, so a sun shade probably would work just as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars 10 minutes later..., March 26, 2011

openned the package in my house and left the box on the kitchen table - took the fan outside to put in my car and was happy to see that the fan started to spin as soon as i was out in the open sunlight - installed the fan on my window - went back inside to throw away the box - had to get something from my car and i noticed that the fan wasn't spinning anymore - took it out of the window and held it directly towards the sun - nothing - put it back on the window where it had been working earlier - nothing - right now i have it sitting next to another solar powered fan hoping that someday it'll just start working again (the other fan works on sunny days, not so much this vent one)

i bought this product for $8. and i got about 8 minutes of use out of it.
needless to say my car is still an oven when i open it in the afternoon before i head off to work

1.0 out of 5 stars Total Junk, October 15, 2010

This thing is total junk. It arrived and I could tell right away I had gotten hosed. Cheap flimsy plastic, poorly attached solar panel wiring. It barely moves the fan in direct bright sunlight. After 3 days the solar panel stopped working. I ended up picking up a better solar panel from a local hobby store for 5 bucks and sodered it in and now it moves air decently but still doesn't help with the heat. Just stay away from this. Get a window shade instead.

The fan works as advertised, however it doesn't seem strong enough to make a difference. I have only been able to try it on one really hot day so far, so maybe next summer I can give a better test.

3.0 out of 5 stars Eco Solutions Solar-Powered Auto Vent Fan (Auto not kitchen), September 23, 2011

This review is from: Eco Solutions Solar-Powered Auto Vent Fan (Kitchen)
I have an auto that the interior would reach about 150 degrees during the heat of the summer in Oklahoma. This unit worked as advertised but moved very little air. The interior temperature did not cool much from this. As I determined, it was due to the fact that this auto has a glass roof and only a sliding screen to block the light. I imagine if the auto you have has a solid roof, and is a compact without dark tinting, this may help you a few degrees. I would not purchase another to replace this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars unfortunately the negative reviews are correct, July 2, 2011

figured I would try it for the 8 dollar price, but the fan barely works if at all and only if the sun is directly on the fan, any pressure on the fan/vent components (like the closed window) stops the fan from working.

the design looks good and compact but the solar panel is not good quality and the fan components are even cheaper, but then it was only 8 dollars.

might try cracking it open and salvaging parts for some other type of solar project or maybe try batteries with the fan.
