5.0 out of 5 stars Eco Lite is awsome
We have about 4 sets of these around. They are so nice because the have a LED night light that comes on when its dark. And of course the work as a power failure light. If the power shuts off the hand held light turns on beaming a nice beam of light up the wall so you can find it and or see in the Location you have it installed. Also the Plug swivels so you can position in...

2.0 out of 5 stars Interferes with X10, January 1, 2011
This review is from: Eco-i-Lite Power failure light, Handheld light, Nightlight (2 Pack) Color Black
If you are an odd person like me and happen to use X10 in your house to control lights, water heater, etc., this gadget sends constant pulses/signals across your house's power line wires that renders many X10 modules useless (until you unplug the flashlight's charger from the wall). In my experience, my lamp modules continued to work, but my appliance modules were unresponsive as well as my X10 box for my hot water heater.

I can't fathom why this device would send signals across my home's electrical wiring, but I assume it is unintentional and the device is just poorly made.

Excellent product. Thanks for Selling it Depoteco!

5.0 out of 5 stars Energy Star or not it's Great!, December 7, 2010
This review is from: Eco-i-Lite Power failure light, Handheld light, Nightlight (2 Pack) Color Black
I didn't purchase the lights for their energy star rating, I bought them because they are a really great product. The night light feature is wonderful, there is always a charged flashlight available when I need one, but the best part is the power outage safety light.
I live in Florida and during a storm when the power goes out it is great to have these lights come on. I don't stumble in the dark to get to the candles or oil lamps, I just grab the flashlight that is already lit because it has detected the power outage and I can take care of my lighting needs.
I don't know yet how long the light's power reserve is as I have yet to have one quit on me after hours of use. We have two at the office, two at my boss's house, two at my house, two at my father-in-law's house and I just order two for my sister-in-law to have and two for her to give away as gifts.
Hope this helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, November 27, 2010

The Eco-i-Lite works excellently as a power failure light AND as a flashlight. The light is powerful enough to be used when doing emergency car repair at night (we had the unfortunate need for this) and is long lasting. It comes on automatically during power failure and is bright enough to find easily. I would recommend these lights for all and am purchasing them as gifts for family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Home should have these!, May 2, 2009
This review is from: Eco-i-Lite Power failure light, Handheld light, Nightlight (2 Pack) Color Black
This the the best emergency prepardeness product for light safety. When the power goes out, this flashlight comes on, making it easy to locate in the dark, and the light is bright. I have several in my home and have given them to adult children and my mother. Terific product for ageing parents: they will never be in the dark fumbling for a light. I can't say enough good things about this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, mediocre performance, March 19, 2011
This review is from: Eco-i-Lite Power failure light, Handheld light, Nightlight (2 Pack) Color Black
I bought a pack of two from one of the warehouse stores last year. One still works well. The flashlight portion of the other stopped working early on. The one which works provides bright light, but LED flashlights will not focus a beam like a conventional one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius!, January 30, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eco-i-Lite Power failure light, Handheld light, Nightlight (2 Pack) Color Black
The house we rented in Lake Tahoe had these fabulous nightlight/flashlights in every hallway. We had a power outage and these were ready and waiting for our use. They are a truly genius idea. You don't have to hunt for a flashlight or look for batteries as they are also charged and ready to go. We loved them so much we ordered them for our own house!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING! This product does NOT meet the ENERGY STAR Eligibility Criteria!

Induction chargers are inefficient so the DOE/EPA Energy Star program specifically bars such charging systems from the program.

Oh, and I have sources.

(Definition: F. Inductive Coupling: A system in which power is transferred between windings in two separate
enclosures through magnetic induction rather than metal-to-metal contact. This design limits the
possibility of electric shock or a short circuit and is often used in certain small household
appliances, such as cordless toothbrushes and shavers.

2. Chargers may not rely on an inductive coupling system used to transfer energy between

The following types of battery charging systems are not covered by this ENERGY STAR specification:
1. Inductively coupled devices used to transfer energy between two separate enclosures

I have one of these and it's warm, even when it should be in maintenance charge mode, drawing just a trickle of energy, with the nightlight out. Waste heat is an obvious indicator of inefficiency in such a device. The heat is what led me to investigate.

I reported all this today (7Aug'09, 11AM) via the DOE/EPA Energy Star hot-line and they are investigating and will get back to me.

Products can get Energy Star certified based on information that is "reported by the manufacturer and is subject to verification by EPA." The EPA needs to do the verification!
