I am using this for professional macro photography. This "par 30" bulb is more intense clean light than the best cfl's, at lower wattage, yet more lumens; low heat; the light is concentrated (par30) , and not a broad flood; It is not quite as white, at 5000K, compared to 5400K for my cfl's, but with custom adjustment of the white balance on my Nikon D5100 16.2MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens it achieves better color reproduction. It's a bit heavy, so it is not sturdy on my cheap gooseneck desk lamps, so I've ordered some Satco Products 60/808 Goose Neck Desk Lamp, Brushed Nickel which may be more sturdy.
This light may be too white for home applications, but they make similar bulbs in the more tungsten resembling 3000K shades which are probably exceptional also.

Looked great until 2 out of 6 failed within a year! Both started flickering non-stop. We tried swapping them with other bulbs and sockets, and it was definitely the bulbs. Now we'll need to exchange them under the warranty which is a huge hassle for something like light bulbs. We have countless EcoSmart bulbs in our house. How many more will we need to file claims for? It's like each bulb had become a potentially breakable device, too expensive to just replace every year.

It's more like an Incandescent Floodlight at 75 Watts. Most LED manufacturers overstate their brightness.

I like 5000K, looks like daylight.
