This stuff really works.

This summer, my area received record rainfall and with it came record numbers of mosquitos that seemed particularly ravenous. And my 3 year old daughter is apparently particularly delicious!

I didn't like the idea of covering her in DEET every time she ventured out into our backyard. But other non-DEET repellants that I've tried in the past have performed very badly (basically, not at all).

But the EcoSmart repellant contains some key organic ingredients esp. Geraniol (derived from Geraniums, I believe) that really work.

I've seen her swarmed by mosquitos before being sprayed and then after I sprayed her I watched a lone mosquito try for about 5 minutes to bite her before finally flying off. (no worries, if that bugger had actually landed on her I would have squashed it before it could bite her!)

Even my father, who usually swears by DEET, tried spraying it on one leg, but not the other and definitely noticed a difference in the level of "attention" each received.

Only 2 minor complaints:
1) be careful on open cuts, it can sting a little since it contains alcohol. Nothing major, but little ones will complain a bit.

2) the bottle does NOT spray upside down. So when you're self-applying, it can be awkward to do your own legs.

But I strongly recommend it. It even smells nice (especially compared to normal, nasty repellant smells)

The product works against mosquitoes though I found the smell unpleasant and overpowering. I had to keep reapplying every 30 minutes for it to stay effective. My biggest problem with this product is that the smell attracts bees. So your choice: Would you rather be eaten by mosquitoes or would you rather be engulfed by a swarm of bees?

I just tested this while cutting overgrown weeds on a fence line in a swampy area of pasture ground. I didn't expect it to work, but I never saw a bug, not one even came close. Not a gnat nor a mosquito nor a fly, which we have swarms of because of so much rain lately. Smells nice too. You can barely smell it after a few minutes, and it is not greasy or sticky like the usual bug spray. You don't feel like you have to take a shower right away when you come back in the house. I swear it works better than DEET. I don't care what it costs, I'm sold.

Ecosmart smells nice compared to most bug sprays, but it didn't work against our local population of Asian Tiger mosquitoes. (YES, we dump out standing water, used Mosquito Bits everywhere, etc.) I sprayed an even coat on my legs and went out to hang up laundry, around 11:00 a.m. Four bites in about 7 minutes. I'd say it didn't prevent much. Tested it twice more and had a similar failure rate. Back to long sleeves and pants! I wish a great non-Deet alternative would come up.

I'm so disappointed by this stuff! I was super excited for an all-natural bug spray that worked because I hate the smell of DEET and would really prefer not to coat myself in possibly-dangerous chemicals, and all the positive reviews got my hopes up. We live in southeast Michigan, one of the worst places for mosquitoes in the country, and go hiking frequently. Today we went and tried this stuff out and wowza was it ineffective! Both my husband and I were absolutely swarmed. We thought perhaps we didn't use enough, so we sprayed it on super thickly - I think we used half the bottle - but to absolutely no avail. Honestly, if anything I think it made it worse. My husband usually doesn't get bothered much by mosquitoes, but I think he got as many bites as I did. It made for a pretty miserable hike. I'm glad others have found it effective, and the smell was very pleasant, but it did nothing for us.

This is my favorite mosquito repellent to date. It's light, not greasy and has a nice herbal fragrance which the bugs don't like. I have sensitive skin and this product doesn't cause a reaction and contains nothing harmful or even questionable. It keeps the bugs away for a couple of hours at least and works great for me.

This EcoSmart product keeps away the mosquitoes, flies, gnats, and all the other flying pests that love to interrupt outdoor fun. The product is safe for kids also. No Deet! Smells pleasantly fresh, dries quickly, doesn't stain and is NOT oily. We have had more cases of West Nile Virus in Dallas/Ft. Worth than any other area with 25% of the reported U.S. cases in Dallas county alone we must protect ourselves at all times. This product works! No toxins!

EcoSmart Organic Insect Repellent dow, as promised, act against flys and mosquitos, apparently ticks also. However, after using it once I stopped because I couldn't deal with the smell. Ended up giving it to my son-in-law who found it effective and doesn't seem as bothered by the smell.
