3.0 out of 5 stars Hit and miss
I love Ecotools, so when I saw this product, I quickly rushed to order it. I was a bit disappointed to find that they were travel sized, but I figured that it was my fault for not reading carefully enough and that I would eventually get over it. 5.0 out of 5 stars Soft, high quality, great for mineral makeup, December 31, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
There are 4 brushes in this set. I love them all. The mineral powder brush and the mini kabuki brush are perfect for flawless application of powdered mineral makeup. I have used both the shadow and concealer brushes to apply eye shadow. They work great too. These brushes are very soft and luxurious feeling. And they are very well constructed. I've experienced no shedding.

I own a lot of makeup brushes including some very high end professional quality brushes. These brushes have not disappointed. They are so much better than the brushes that are sold by Bare Minerals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ecotools 6 Brush Set, July 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Wow. SUPER FAST shipping. Ordered on 21st got them on the 23rd! VERY HAPPY. Brushes are exactly what I wanted. AWESOME. They are just over 4" in length. So I could see why some say they are tiny. Me personally, I have small hands. Works perfect for me! Plus I wear glasses, so I have to get really close to the mirror when Im doing my make-up. Long brushes are hard to move around & work within a few inches of a mirror. (YES Im blind! lol) I very very pleased!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value, incredibly soft, high-quality brushes for eyes, May 4, 2010
I have tried (and own) numerous brushes, including from other high-end makeup brands like MAC, drugstore brands, etc. These brushes are truly amazing quality for the price. They are buttery soft on the eyes and great for blending and applying shadows. The different shapes of the brushes allow for a variety of eye-shadow looks, making the set very versatile. This makes a great travel kit because the handles are short (about 3 inches) and they come packaged in a roll with a mirror. The brushes don't shed and stay soft after months of use. High quality bristles and eco-friendly--what could be better? Really the only thing missing is a angled brush (for gel eye liner), which Ecotools also sells separately and in a different kit. Overall, I'd highly recommend this set, you will be surprised by the quality! It's one of my best makeup purchases to date... :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Hit and miss, August 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love Ecotools, so when I saw this product, I quickly rushed to order it. I was a bit disappointed to find that they were travel sized, but I figured that it was my fault for not reading carefully enough and that I would eventually get over it. Once I started using these brushes, I found that I liked some more than others. Like the blending brush: when I first got it, I thought "well I'm not going to use this ever" because of its size. But it actually works rather well and I like how dense its bristles were. The same goes for the crease brush.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the highlight, smudge and application brushes for the exact same reason: they weren't very dense with their hairs. I struggled with trying to apply eyeshadow with these three, so in the end, I went back to my Ecotools Eyeshadow brush (the tall one).

Overall, love the brand, hated those three brushes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for a Starter Brush Set...Eco Friendly is Nice, January 5, 2010
This review is from: EcoTools MINERAL 5pc Make Up Brush Travel Set 1213 (Misc.)
I really wanted to like this set after reading so many positive reviews, however, this set is just okay, but has positive aspects.

First off, I really like the concept of developing eco friendly products and feel EcoTools has taken a great step in this endeavor. Bamboo is a sustainable resource and using recycled aluminum is also a nice plus. I also like the use of taklon for its bristles, as no animals were harmed in the making of these brushes, so that is another nice factor. After washing each brush, I did not notice any shedding, nor have I noticed shedding since using them. Pricing on these brushes is awesome! For the first time there is an eco friendly product out there that does not cost more than its non-eco friendly competitors.

Given its eco friendly position and the anti-cruelty aspect, it pains me to be critical of this set, however, it has its issues people should be aware of. In this set, you get a blush brush, eyeshadow brush, concealor brush, eye liner brush and brow brush. So, you get 5 brushes and also a brush roll, which is also eco-friendly. The synthetic material used is called Taklon, which is very soft to the touch.

The blush brush is so soft and feels nice on my cheek. It even tapers so that one can even use it to contour the check. However, I just do not feel that it picks up enugh product, which is a shame, as there is so much going for it. The concealor and shadow brushes are ok and get the job done. However, I find the shadow brush is not very precise. The concealor brush is not bad, but I only use it for my eye area, so I cannot comment on it as a face brush. The brow/lash brush is fine, I do not use it though, so gave it to my mom and she likes it.

My favorite brush out of the bunch is the eye liner brush. It is very thin, so you can get a very thin line from it and build it up to add a bit more drama. However, when I want a heavier line, I will use this one to line my lid for precision and then turn to a thicker liner brush to add more drama if I am in the mood. Another reason why I like this brush is that I have sensitive eyes and this brush is very gentle. The drawback to this brush is that its bristles do not keep their shape, so I have to shape the brush when I am using it. However, I am willing to do this, as this brush gives me a thin line and is very gentle.

Overall, I think EcoTools is onto something great and think this set would be good for someone on a tight budget or as a starter brush set for someone just learning about makeup. I also think its Taklon bristles are great for people with sensitive skin and eyes, so definitely worth checking into, especially if you find one or two brushes out of the set you really like. Again, I think it is great that we now have Earth and animal friendly options to try.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must Have!!!!!!!!!!!, January 1, 2009
This review is from: EcoTools MINERAL 5pc Make Up Brush Travel Set 1213 (Misc.)
I did not purchase these on Amazon but in my local drugstore. I must say that these are a must have when it comes to cosmetic brushes. I just love the blush brush and the softness of it. The reason i gave 4 stars is because the shadow brush do not pack on color and after two washes of the concealer brush it loses it "touch". Other than that they are great to have

5.0 out of 5 stars bamboo, April 8, 2009
This review is from: EcoTools MINERAL 5pc Make Up Brush Travel Set 1213 (Misc.)
In response to person below, I think the company uses bamboo from a man-grown forest, not a real existing panda forest. Bamboo grows quite easily and rapidly so it would probably also be much cheaper for them to grow their own.
