I used this last year on my flowering annuals and it really did work. There were multiple fall nights where my thermometer said it had been down to 26-28 degrees and the next day the plants that had been sprayed were fine. If you've got annual flowering plants that can keep their color into the fall, I strongly recommend you treat with this stuff because it only takes one unexpectedly cold night to end the flower show.

The instructions recommend spraying both the tops and bottoms of the leaves, but that's not an easy thing to do to dense plants. I have no idea how you would get under the leaves of ground cover plants. I just spray at different up and down angles from the side and hope the cloud of spray finds it's way around. For hanging plants I try to pull open an area to get access to the middle of the bushy stems. Last fall it was down into the 40's when I applied it and a white residue formed on the leaves. I just sprayed last week while it was about 60 degrees and there's no residue showing.

We bought this for our many palm trees. I have tried and it has definitely helped during the cold snaps we have had. We have felt comfortable leaving our palms uncovered for a few nights. I say it works because usually palms get brown on the frons if there is cold damage. Since using this product and leaving our palms uncovered, there has been no browning of the frons and our plants look healthy. We live in N. Central Florida and usually have to cover our palms a few times each winter season.

I really like this product. It really does what it says. It is supposed to give you about one growth zone of improvement so you can grow zone 7 plants in zone 6. I have been trying to grow windmill palms outdoors in Massachusetts, using strategies outlined by David Franko in Palms Won't Grow Here and Other Myths: Warm-Climate Plants for Cooler Areas. I saw his name on a display for this product in my local garden store (evidently he was lead developer for this) and decided to give it a try. I have gotten three small windmill palms to survive outside for two winters now. I have had two mazari palm seedlings survive as well. If you wish you want to experiment with plants outside of your growth zone, this is a great help.

I live in the DC area and have two camelia's on the colder side of the house. Freeze pruf applied on a warmer day in december has protected them for the rest of the winter from snow and freezing rain, for the last 10 years now.
