This is amazing for what I paid for it. Like others have said, the build quality is poor. I bought two and one of them the header peeled off of the pcb so DMX wouldn't work. 10 minutes with the soldering iron and it is better than new.

The "instructions" are incorrect. By instructions, I mean the "English" side of the 1/2 a sheet of paper. While the modes are correct, the DMX control is wrong. Both of mine work as follows:

CH1: Maximum brightness of all colors
-------------------------------------
0: All Off
1: Dimmest
255: Brightest

CH2: Red
-------------------------------------
0: Off
1: Dimmest
255: Brightest

CH3: Green
-------------------------------------
0: Off
1: Dimmest
255: Brightest

CH4: Blue
-------------------------------------
0: Off
1: Dimmest
255: Brightest

CH5: Strobe
-------------------------------------
0-9: No Strobe (constant on)
10: Fastest strobe
255: Slowest strobe

CH6: Motor Position
-------------------------------------
0-5: No Motion (stops where it is)
6-127: Absolute Position
128: Slowest back and forth
255: Fastest back and forth

This would have really helped me because the instructions say that the first channel is the strobe and to turn it off, you send 0. Well, that actually turns off all the colors so I thought the DMX wan't working at all.

Loads of fun for $20. I've used mine for quite a few events; Cinco de Mayo, birthday parties, 4th of July, etc.

People always react with smiles and immediately ask where I bought them from and how much. When I tell them what I paid, I get dropped jaws.

Lots of fun at a great price!

Color Name: LED Crystal Ball Verified Purchase
First off, my disco ball showed up on time, but the blue light did not work. When only the green and red lights work, it sort of makes everything look like Christmas, but that was okay, because my disco ball had arrived, and it felt like Christmas.

I bought the disco ball to put in my Burning Man trailer so the Burnergirl and I can rage in Black Rock City this fall. Last night we decided to give the X-mas disco ball a test run in the trailer. HOLY MOTHER OF BRIGHT LIGHTS!!! I'm still seeing spots! I think I burned green and red spots into my retinas, and now EVERYTHING looks like Christmas. Be warned: do NOT use this in a small enclosed 15 foot box on wheels. It's just a bad idea. We donned some safety glasses (safety third, of course) and took the Xmas disco ball outside in my driveway. It lit up my driveway, the side of my house, the side of the neighbor's house, and all of the 100-foot high trees in the neighborhood. While we were admiring the yuletide glow, a car came screaming around the corner, being driven by an intoxicated 20-something, who was "Looking for the party." The party is right here, dude. Because I have an X-mas disco ball.

A few minutes later I tried to hang the disco ball on the side of the trailer, but failed miserably, dropped the X-mas disco ball, broke the dome, and the party was over. But hell, I had so much fun that I'm ordering another one. But this time I'm going to put it on TOP of the trailer. That way I can always find my way home because the thing is brighter than a lighthouse. But this time I want the blue light too.

Highly recommended, but made of cheap plastic, so keep it away from small children and klutzes like me.

It's great, it's flashy, the lighting options are somewhat limited, but it makes a small dance party. It's really cheap. As of right now, I've had to fix 3 of 4 I purchased to get or keep them working.

The multifaceted beam makes looks great, especially if you are shining it through a haze.

If you want something you can use repeatedly, and aren't handy with a soldering iron, you may want to consider a different product. Inside the units it looks like someone took a cheap design and made it cheaper. Though there's a fuse elsewhere, the fuse holder you see on the back is empty and isn't wired to anything.

It's a generally cheap build; it functions, but I wouldn't expect great reliability or trust it for any grand schemes.

DMX Details:
The manual is wrong. The correct *7* channels are: master dimmer, r, g, b, strobe, rotation, program.
Surprisingly (for a device this price), the prism rotation is driven by an actual stepper motor! With DMX values in certain ranges, you can absolutely position the LED platform inside the fixture. For the most part, you get the expected results form the other channels.

It's impressive to find a DMX ANYTHING at this price point, but I have some reservations with the DMX implementation:
1. the display blinks incessantly while receiving a DMX signal. (Workaround: tape)
2. despite the fact that the light source is LED (and it even has a functioning strobe mode), the firmware thinks it's "better" to dim my channel changes for about 400ms (on large jumps) instead of jumping directly to the requested value. This turns sharp, sudden color changes into a short fades which makes it impossible to achieve certain lighting effects that the fixture is actually capable of doing.
