A pocket book guide on "How to be an EA",
By
This review is from: The Economic Benefits of Enterprise Architecture (Paperback)
This book is good, but not great. Good because it gives you a short and precise reference on what techniques you can use for creating a business case, but not great because it doesn't give you the methodologies.
There is a lot of good info in this book (I am happy with the purchase), in short digestible sections on what each important topics are in running an EA practice. To set expectations, this is the meta-data on how to be an EA, but you need to go buy other books to get access to the data.

Jaap Schekkerman has written what I consider to be his very best book in The Economic Benefits of Enterprise Architecture. Right from his early discussion on the critical success factors for EA to his multi-domain perspectives in relation to the value, a clear guide is presented that the reader can use as a primer on Enterprise Architecture Value.
A very good chapter is five, where the author describes the EA program and validation of having one. His commentary on the value of the transformation plan should hit home when the reader is considering the extent to which theirs is detailed. My favorite chapter is eight, where he goes through some methods on how to measure the economic benefits. For a long time, it has been a frequent question posed to me - "How to we collect metrics on our use of Enterprise Architecture," or our program. This section will describe some valuable methods, as well as some very useful diagrams that the reader can use to help them with the program they are running or are trying to create at their company. These diagrams are just some of the many golden nuggets you will find in this very readable book.
