2.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, March 26, 2006

This review is from: Economic Government (Paperback)
From reading the Lewrockwell.com website i was introduced to this authors writing. I've not yet read the novel "Atantis", but from reading its compainon book i think i will be disappointed again. This book "Economic Government" is just a collection of out of date essays on a variety of topics. Some are not so much essays as rants about how Ayn Rand was impolite to his mentor or about how working at a hospital really sucks. I bought this to learn more about or learn a different take on the private property anarchy expounded by Rothbard and mentioned much on the rockwell site. It would be better to read "For a New Liberty" by rothbard if your looking for an introduction to this. I might suggest that Mr. Klassen read something of the Austrian economics webpage, for a better understand of the concept of money. The authors thinking on this as presented in an essay in this book is seriously confused on this issue. This author is just giving a poor explaination of others ideas. For example his mentor's proposal that there be some sort of copyright on ideas is interesting, if obviously unworkable, yet very little of the book actually explains or denfends this well enough to be persausive. I hope that after reading the novel "Atlantis" that the author will rise in my estamation.

As an old man and recent convert to the truths of libertarian thought, I have found the writings of Robert Klassen to be invaluable. Robert takes the most difficult concepts (I have no formal education in economics) and makes them understandable. His writing wastes no words and has room for sarcasm and humor. Mr. Klassen is a rare man in today's work--a freethinker who is able to view ongoing history from the perspective of a man who has lived life, both it's ups and downs. Mr. Klassen obviously cannot cover all that should be covered in this size of text, but he outlines the key elements; I have been inspired to learn more and read further. Mr. Klassen is not the typical author that one must contend with. He speaks from the heart and from the mind, with a refreshing human quality that is so unlike the many libertarian texts written by academicians. A human book that should not be overlooked, Economic Government has given me a foundation from which I can explore the writings of others, thanks to the humble writing of this transparent (and I mean that as a complement) man.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for the future, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Economic Government (Paperback)
I was given this book by a friend who told me that the ideas expressed within were totally new. I was skeptical. But the more I read, the more I became convinced that the only (realistic) hope for a world of peace is a world ran under the system that is explained in this book.

Political governments have been running the world since day one and what have they gotten us? War, a sick society, and a whole plethoria of problems. Mr. Klassen explains in detail an entirely new concept in which we can deal with our environment, lives, and with each other.

The ideas might seem far-fetched at first, but I think that's only because we've all been brainwashed for so long into believing that Big Brother has our best interests in mind. They don't. The only person who has your best interests in mind is you.

Economic Government explains how we can begin to put it into place and begin to put our lives back in order.

A must read.
