Review
This is a well-written and timely book that extensively covers the energy and environmental issues pertinent to China. Global warming is of great concern to all nations, Mr. Zhang does an excellent job of highlighting the critical issues related to greenhouse gases. He also conducts a comprehensive macroeconomic analysis using a computable general equilibrium model to examine alternative strategies and policy instruments to abate carbon dioxide emissions in China. I highly recommend his book for those interested in global warming and China. --
Karen R. Polenske, Professor of Regional Political Economy and Planning, Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyThis work represents a pathbreaking entry into one of the most complicated aspects of contemporary energy/environmental economics. It is difficult for the reviewer, in this relatively short piece, to adequately reflect the wealth of information contained in this book and its value to the profession. For any energy or environmental economists with a serious interest in China's future level of CO2 emissions, it should be obligatory reading. --
Tony Owen, University of New South Wales, Australia ZhongXiang Zhang represents one of the new breed of Chinese environmental economists, bringing analytical rigor to the challenging local and global environmental problems raised by the rapid development of the Chinese economy. This book is highly recommended. --
