5.0 out of 5 stars Well written and interesting
If you are interested in economics, you should add this book to your personal library.

This book is very well written (almost lively). It covers macro, micro and international economics in a very interesting way. A very good introductory economics book that will also refresh even the advanced readers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Biased opinions
I only purchased this book for class. I was pleased to find that the book was easy to follow and helpful overall. However, I agree with previous customer reviews that the book was obviously written by right-wing biased opinions! I found myself cringing with each chapter! Beware!

5.0 out of 5 stars When did textbooks become so interesting?, October 3, 2004

I concur with the other reviewers...this is one textbook that is worth every dollar. The authors use color and layout so well in their instruction...a wonderful feature since economics, even with all its fancy graphs, can be very boring. The text is even engaging. It's a bookshelf staple for anyone who is interested in economics, student or not.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the few good books, March 31, 2000
This is absolutely a good book not only for beginners, but for advanced readers as well. The book does a good job giving a general idea of the economic forces introducing the reader to a variety of subjects with detailed explanations. Some of the ideas are repetitive through the book, however. I found the applications at the end of the book very helpfull - something other books dont have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very similar to 13th Edition, at a fraction of the price., February 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I needed this book for my macroeconomics class this semester, but did not want to pay the full price for a new copy of the latest edition. To my delight this edition is nearly identical to the 13th ed., from the chapter placement to the review questions at the end. If you need this text for a course and want to save some cash, go with this edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teaches basic economics, February 2, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you have time and want to learn macro and micro economics fundamentals and how it can applied in a practical setting, then is the book for you. I used this book for my MBA program.

The author has used examples, charts, graphs , figures etc to drive home the concepts.

If you want to learn economics in 24 hrs, this is not the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good textbook for use in a college course, March 30, 2010
Book is very helpful with breaking down concepts and showing graphs. The problems at the end of the chapters are helpful as well. Just wish the back of the book answers to problems had explanations as to why that is the answer, and some answers in the back of the book are wrong as agreed by my college professor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well written, April 7, 2003
This book will make you love economics. It covers both microeconomics and macroeconomics. It also explains how monetary policy and fiscal policy affects the economy. Some of the reasonings are counter intuitive however the authors provide very good examples to illustrate their point. I gained a very good understanding of aggregate demand and supply and how they get affected because of fiscal and monetary policy, employment, economic growth, taxes, trade tariffs, exports, imports, and other factors.

2.0 out of 5 stars Economics primer with a right-wing bias, July 7, 2004
By
"rmk2112" (Greensboro, NC U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
As others have written, this text is reasonably well-written and organized. However, it has a clear bias, presenting and defending a right-wing agenda. For example:

*Taxes, unions, environmental protection, transfer payments are bad.
*School vouchers, social security reform to presonal retirement accounts, medical savings accounts are good ideas.

Of course I oversimplify (slightly), but whatever side of these and other issues one might fall, it's pretty clear that the other side is given short shrift.

A minor beef I had with this text is that too many of its examples cater to the college student.
