My kitchen island was infested with carpet beetles. There was no food crumbs, they were living within the wood, and I thought I would have to throw it out. I tried this product...with 2 small children and 2 curious dogs I needed something that wouldn't hurt any of them. This did the trick! I may have gone a bit overboard, as I ended up staying the entire bottle throughout the island. There was a sort of peppermint smell that lingered for a few days...not totally unpleasant but not great, it was definitely tolerable. I would absolutely recommend this product!

I was willing to try this spray regardless of some other reviewers stating that the smell is too strong and unbearable. I wanted something that would work on the ants but was safe for me (pregnant) and my little children. I feel very comfortable using this product for the safety issue of it. It is organic natural plant based oils. I would like to set the record straight!
First of all the smell is very strong. There is no denying that. But it really isn't a bad bug chemical spray at all. It is similar to an over abundance of popouri smell... like clove and cinnamon. Just leave the windows open for a few hours and the smell will become manageable. I sprayed at night time and left the windows open all night and the smell was still there in the morning but really faint.
The second thing I would like to say is how it actually works. 2 years ago I had a huge ant problem in my house. I was also pregnant at that time as well. so I was not wanting to use a chemical spray at all. I did not even think about trying to find an organic spray, so I went on line and people said to use things like mint leaves sprinkled around and cinnamon. Well all the cinnamon did was stain my carpets. It did not work. I was resorted to just cleaning them up and vacuuming like crazy every day until the winter time came. I didnt' have a problem with ants last year. A couple of days ago I woke up to about 30 ants in my living room. I decided to try this EcoSmart Home pest control. After my husband sprayed the first day, the very next day I did see more ants... but not that many... maybe 6 or 8 of them. I didnt see where my husband sprayed so I decided to spray again last night before I went to bed. I left the windows open all night and when I woke up this morning I was surprised to see not one ant!

When I first tried this product I sprayed it all over my kitchen as a preventative measure against roaches. I found the odor really strong for my size house and did not feel it did a very effective job of deterring/killing roaches.

However, when I have see bugs and sprayed them with direct contact it has always killed them almost instantly. Thus, I would recommend this mainly as a direct-contact spray, and at this frequency of use the smell was tolerable.

For prevention I've found food-grade diatomaceous earth much more effective in deterring/killing roaches that I do not personally see. In combination with diatomaceous earth I've found this to be a very useful product.

I bought this at vitacost for five dollars on sale. It is also available at the big box orange store for nine ninety nine for the 64 oz. size. I agree w/ the reviewer that it is more effective on direct contact vs. as a preventative. The very small black ants were coming into my home office window and the side door to my garage. I sprayed there daily for 3 days and the ants quit appearing. I happen to like the clove scent and do not find it overpowering. I also bought the Diatomaceous Earth 3 pounds here on Amazon, which is the cheapest for fresh water and food grade. Yes, that means you can eat it, hence I'm using it in my organic garden (it is earthworm safe) and it is safe to apply on your pets for flea control and/or worms. I think this would be most effective for the reviewer that wanted a safe roach killer/preventive program. I also bought the Chapin 16-Ounce Hand and Dusters Rose and Plant Duster Sprayer 5000 on Amazon, but it hasn't been delivered yet. Other reviewers say to use it upside down for effective spraying. Also you only need a fine dust layer as it will stick to the invading bug. By using both of those products I think it will remedy any bug issue I might experience.

I bought this because it is listed as not harmful to humans or pets. I wanted a spray insect killer to rid me of minute white flies in my container vegetable garden. Even on the Ecosmart site it says it can be used on vegetables. Well, DON'T. It kills the flies but also eggplant plants, squash plants, bush beans and greatly affects other plants to a lesser degree. I will replant what I lost but the manufacturer needs to put something on the label about using on vegetables.

Used it in the kitchen and the smell is awful and irritating. The smell is too strong and has invaded the whole house.

Do yourself a favor and try it outside in a small place first, smell it for an hour and then decide if you can stand the smell.

When applying it it didn't seem so bad but after an hour the smell was unbearable.

I bought this by complete accident, I did not mean to buy an organic product as I didn't think it would work as well as "real" poison. I had a BAD problem with thrips (?) some flying insect that is destroying my outdoor flowering plants and many of my vegetables (tomatoes, potato plants). The mites/thrips or whatever bug it is, totally killed my plants. I bought a pyrethrin based powder and it did NOTHING even after I covered the plants with it. I got this ecosmart at Walmart, not realizing it was organic until I got it home. Oh well, guess I could try it- well, guess WHAT? I sprayed my poinsettia as a test, it had bad problems with those dang insects. I thought this spray would be useless- the next day those flies were GONE! The bottle says it kills the eggs and nymphs too- GOOD.

Some of the reviews complain about the strong smell. So what?? The odor smells like herbs and dissipates after an hour or so. Plus, I won't have to worry about my cats eating the leaves of my plants after I spray so that's a win-win situation. I will never complain about organic products being no good, this stuff saved my poor garden!
