My kitchen island was infested with carpet beetles. There was no food crumbs, they were living within the wood, and I thought I would have to throw it out. I tried this product...with 2 small children and 2 curious dogs I needed something that wouldn't hurt any of them. This did the trick! I may have gone a bit overboard, as I ended up staying the entire bottle throughout the island. There was a sort of peppermint smell that lingered for a few days...not totally unpleasant but not great, it was definitely tolerable. I would absolutely recommend this product!

I was willing to try this spray regardless of some other reviewers stating that the smell is too strong and unbearable. I wanted something that would work on the ants but was safe for me (pregnant) and my little children. I feel very comfortable using this product for the safety issue of it. It is organic natural plant based oils. I would like to set the record straight!
First of all the smell is very strong. There is no denying that. But it really isn't a bad bug chemical spray at all. It is similar to an over abundance of popouri smell... like clove and cinnamon. Just leave the windows open for a few hours and the smell will become manageable. I sprayed at night time and left the windows open all night and the smell was still there in the morning but really faint.
The second thing I would like to say is how it actually works. 2 years ago I had a huge ant problem in my house. I was also pregnant at that time as well. so I was not wanting to use a chemical spray at all. I did not even think about trying to find an organic spray, so I went on line and people said to use things like mint leaves sprinkled around and cinnamon. Well all the cinnamon did was stain my carpets. It did not work. I was resorted to just cleaning them up and vacuuming like crazy every day until the winter time came. I didnt' have a problem with ants last year. A couple of days ago I woke up to about 30 ants in my living room. I decided to try this EcoSmart Home pest control. After my husband sprayed the first day, the very next day I did see more ants... but not that many... maybe 6 or 8 of them. I didnt see where my husband sprayed so I decided to spray again last night before I went to bed. I left the windows open all night and when I woke up this morning I was surprised to see not one ant! You may have to repeat the process a couple of times, but this stuff works!!!! And I feel good using it in my house around my children. I will update this post after a couple days to see if the ants continue to stay away.

I'm making my review with a little different perspective than some of the posts I've read. I have found that pure essential oils, no matter what "flavor", are very potent, and only a small amount is needed. I am speaking as if I were using the oils as an air freshener, or perhaps in an electric warming pot. I totally agree with the posters that say this spray has a very strong smell. I found that out myself the first time I used it which was only a couple of days ago.
My target is spiders and ants. I live in a complex that has no steps to the front door. And outside of my front door are several evergreen bushes that are the home of many spiders. So, the spiders and any other insects make a bee line to my front screen door, crawl under the door, and they have a new home in my living room, or kitchen, or in some instances my bedroom. They also love to live in my electric heaters in the winter time.
I am a person that does not support regular pesticides nor herbicides. So I sought out to find a "natural" product. In the two days that have passed since I sprayed outside of my front door, I have not seen one single spider, either inside or outside of my home, and the grease/sugar ants in my livingroom, as of today, are basically down to zero! I did not spray this product inside of my home at all.
This morning, I opened the back patio door and targeted a very few spots along the edges. And I sprayed just a very small amount in several of those spots. I did not use the spray bottle as though I would have been using a "Raid" can, or bottle when a person would spray lots of the product. I just sprayed a very small amount of the product. My hope is that a very small amount of this product will keep the insects out of my home indefinitely. And further keep them away from my front and back doors.
To me, this is a fine product. In my view, "less is more", if you will, and to spray alot of this product would not be necessary. Of course i realize everyone has a different purpose to use this product, and your results may not be those that I accomplished in the short time I used it.
My recommendation would be to try a small amount first, and see if you get results. I also felt quite overwhelmed with the smell when I over sprayed the first time. Even though it is natural oil, it simply was "over kill".
If you are like me and are looking for something natural, I would give this product a try. Like another poster, I got my bottle at Wal-Mart for $3.48, so I haven't lost much money if in the end it does not work as it is working now.

I used this spray since it was the only one I could find that was safe around pets. I sprayed some in my bathroom for ants and my whole apartment stunk so bad I had to move into my parent's house. While packing I had a severe reaction including watering eyes, nausea, weakness, tremors, and my legs gave out under me. According to the manufacturer's own website, those are the symptoms of pesticide poisoning.
A little over a week later (and spending some of that week attacking my bathroom with baking soda, Febreeze, and cleaning where I sprayed myself) it still smells bad enough to turn my stomach and make my eyes water. Even the manufacturer's advice on how to get rid of the smell doesn't work for over a week!
Find another product! This one is suffocating!

When I first tried this product I sprayed it all over my kitchen as a preventative measure against roaches. I found the odor really strong for my size house and did not feel it did a very effective job of deterring/killing roaches.
However, when I have see bugs and sprayed them with direct contact it has always killed them almost instantly. Thus, I would recommend this mainly as a direct-contact spray, and at this frequency of use the smell was tolerable.
For prevention I've found food-grade diatomaceous earth much more effective in deterring/killing roaches that I do not personally see. In combination with diatomaceous earth I've found this to be a very useful product.

This product is not as benign as I thought. 2-Phenethyl propionate is the top active ingredient and it is listed on TOXNET through National Library of Medicine.
One of the ingredients in this spray gave me a significant and long lasting migraine. Unfortunately, 5 windows being open has not aired the smell out of the room. I've tried to wash it off with really hot water but that didn't work.
I'm giving a 2 star and not 1 star because it might possibly be helpful on the outside of the house.

I have several pets and when the cold season started threatening , several spiders, flies and even other bugs started to appear and seek refuge, I couldn't endanger my pets with poisons.
This does work BUT it's slower than its chemical counterpart. If you have a huge infestation, honestly? board your animals for a day somewhere safe and bomb the place. Do not expect this to work as efficiently as bombing, be realistic.
But if you just have a couple of stray bugs, it'll do the job, take a couple of hours longer, and leave a minty smell, that will not damage your lungs or pets if you have any.

This is a good product if your kitchen has been infested with ants, as ours recently was during a heat wave. They came in seeking water and cooler temps and it was DISGUSTING. I have young kids, so the idea of spraying Raid all over my kitchen is not appealing. I think this is a safer alternative. Hopefully it actually is safer, and not just marketing...
Anyway, this is effective at kiling on contact. Sprayed it all over the ants and they were dead within a minute or less.
Doused the crack in the wall where it seemed they were entering. Doused, like super doused. But the next morning, they returned through the same crack. Boo.
Killed and cleaned up all the ants again, redoused the crack and and gave it another chance. I went to bed and prayed that I would not wake up to ant-ville. But, in the morning, they were back.
So, I got some Raid. First, I sprayed with Ecosmart again to kill everything and cleaned up all the dead ants. Then, just at the crack, sprayed some Raid. No more ants. Victorious!!
So, I still think this is a good product. I recommend to use this in conjunction with Raid to completely take care of any ant infestation. Use the Ecosmart to kill off the ants that have entered, then spray the Raid at the point of entry to keep new ants from entering. Ecosmart allows you to use the Raid sparingly, which I feel is a good thing.
The smell is strong, but I don't find it horribly unpleasant. It's much better than the "flower" smell of scented Raid. It smells minty, from the peppermint oil they use as an active ingredient.

I'm not sure yet if the product worked, but I can tell you the odor from the product is extremely strong and long lasting. I expected that a green product would have a scent which was more pleasant. This simply does not smell good. Since it basically has to be applied all over the affected area, that means the entire room (and in my case, my small apartment) reeked of the stuff for several days.

It works! I get frequent visits from many spiders and occasional wandering ants. Ecosmart Pest Control spray does a good job of killing ants on contact, and a moderate job of killing spiders on contact (I've had a few try to crawl away, and a large one that successfully escaped). I use this mostly for preventative control.
The smell is nice, but it takes a bit of getting used to. Now that I'm familiar with it, it's more pleasant to catch whiffs of while walking by areas I have recently sprayed. Personally, I think it smells like cloves more than anything else, but I can also smell cinnamon and peppermint. My dog, a 35 lb. beagle, doesn't seem to take any interest or mind to it.
I will occasionally spray around my doors (inside and outside) and it has DRAMATICALLY reduced the number of critters I find in my home and around the doors. Once every two weeks is sufficient. This is especially so outside of my workshop door, where I could find 2-5 new spider webs with residents after a single night, following a good sweep.
What I love most about this is that I can spray it *anywhere* without worrying about toxicity or corrosion. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants to reduce the number of ants and spiders that they have living around their homes with a non-toxic substance.
