5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Pond Reference
I've gone to this book several times over the past few weeks. It is a great reference for many of the common decisions/problems you will face while planning, building, and starting up your pond.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
The book is basic in content and has an overall flakey/new age tone. It reads like a sales pitch for the author's pond installations business. Moreover the title has nothing to do with "natural" ponds. It just offers a 'different'(sorta) outlook in one area--which is 'use rocks on the bottom of the pond, young man'. This review is from: The Ecosystem Pond (Paperback)
I'm building a much larger pond than I have now, but I certainly won't decide about the pond substrate one way or another based upon this book.

I was looking for information on how to create a truly natural pond--i.e.,an ecosystem that is self-sustaining over the long haul---with minimal energy input. This book tells you how to keep goldfish and koi--that's not an ecosystem--it's an aquarium---hardly anything natural, unless you're trying to recreate a habitat you'd find in a Chinese garden. Not my idea of an 'ecosystem'. If I could have given the book zero stars I would have done so. Don't waste your money!!!!! It's not even worth the effort to throw away, sad to say. (Tell us how you really feel, Steve.)
