I tried many dishwasher detergents... This one is the best!
Tania
I think he was right, because Ecover works really well--it definitely works better than the cheap, regular detergent we had been buying at the grocery store.

Cleans dishes really well though I don't stack them in all full of crud.

I've tried Method, Seventh Generation, Whole Foods' 365 brand, and several others that I can't even remember, but Ecover is the only eco-friendly automatic dishwasher detergent I've found that actually works as well as Cascade. (Haven't tried Mrs. Meyers - and I do like a lot of their products - because our dishwasher requires powder.) Ecover gets everything squeaky-clean and shiny, even baked-on foods, without scratching, spotting, clouding glassware, or leaving a dull film. And all without being toxic, polluting, or tested on animals. Fantastic product!

I really like this powder and it doesn't have a scent, which is a plus. I tried it because I had read poor reviews of 7th generation's dish powder and I wanted to use a natural product. This was also rated highly in Consumer Reports when they rated dish washing soaps. I have had to rewash a few items from time to time, but that happens with cascade too, especially if I pack items in too close.

The absolute best. I used this product with regular white vinegar as the rinse aid, glasses and dishes spotless and gleaming, much better cleaning job than the toxic stuff. Toxic free and spotless--you can't ask for more. highest recomendation.

I have to say that Ecover Ecological Automatic Dishwashing Powder (48 oz/"38 loads") is fantastic. WAY better than Seventh Gen and Method in that it actually WORKS (like a non-eco-brand) and doesn't leave powder residue on dishes or weird streaking on glasses or plastic. In fact, about the only thing it's leaving is cleanliness!

The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that lately (nearly 2/3s done with the 48oz box) our dishes have been coming out with food residue.... However, that may be because a) we use a crappy, old dishwasher; b) we're doing larger loads to save water/ electricity; and/or c) the dishes may be dirtier. Chances are, the food's drying out on the plates longer/not coming off as easy since more dishes means they're closer together....

'Til I figure out the exact reason for the change in dish-cleanliness, I, at least, don't carry the guilt of polluting the environment/water or fear ingesting chemicals (non-eco-brands), coupled with powdery film (from other eco-brands). ;->

Btw, its packaging is unique in that even the nifty pop-out spout is the same 95% recycled cardboard as the box. No waste; nice touch.

Ecover powder's my main brand from now on. :D

After we had a septic problem I went on an overhaul rampage to replace bleach-containing products with septic-friendly ones. This is not only fantastic "for a green soap," it's just plain fantastic all around. No white film or chalky bits, and extremely clean (non-pre-rinsed) dishes. I'm using up a less than wonderful brand as a pre-wash to this one until it's gone (it was expensive!), and then it will be ECOVER 100% from now on. My search is totally over, and I'm very picky.

I tried many dishwasher detergents... This one is the best! And far better that all that I tried. Would not settle for any other.
The only trick, I use a half of the recommended amount (or even a third of it) for the wash, and then glasses and dished are sparkling clean and no residue. Even more saving for me!

Ever since that law was passed to ban phosphates from dish detergents, I've found that the regular (non-eco) brands have started working poorly. My boyfriend suggested buying a product that was eco-friendly from the start, since they probably had a better formulation for non-phosphate detergents. I think he was right, because Ecover works really well--it definitely works better than the cheap, regular detergent we had been buying at the grocery store. Ecover is a little bit more expensive, but it's worth it, both for how well it works and because of their business practices (no animal testing, etc.) I'm pretty happy with it. It doesn't seem to work as well if you cram your dishwasher full, especially without rinsing the dishes very well, but that's true of most detergents.
