This book has proven to be a continual resource of information. It is multileveled, so the beginner and serious student both benefit. Through theNsimple exercises you will learn valuable methods of making love not only to others, but to yourself, awakening mystical union and opening to alchemical transformation. Dr. Mumford has created a rare resource book, authentic through his extensive experience in initiated practices in India, filtered through a western mind to be an easy to read approach and grounded through scientific and medical knowledge. Ecstasy Through Tantra is, without a doubt, one of the best Tantric Yoga books I have ever read and one I often recommend to clients and friends whether they are new to Tantra or have some knowleldge of it. Students of all levels will be able to find something in Ecstasy Through Tantra. The beginner will gain an excellent understanding of Tantric Yoga after reading the book and the intermediate and advanced student will benefit from practicing the powerful techniques which are presented in such a beautiful and masterful way. Ecstasy Through Tantra is not just another book on the subject of Tantric Yoga. It is rather an insightful, beautiful and practical manual of Tantric Yoga, sexuality and spirituality with very valuable information for the Western mind. "Ecstasy Through Tantra" has been my companion in spiritual work for the last several months. It is full of knowledge about Tantra and spirituality in general, explaining the esoteric meaning of numerous symbols in fascinating detail, describing magical rituals, and also offering practical exercises, particularly for couples who want to proceed on a spiritual path together. It is a relationship-friendly book, helping us to see our partners as divine beings, and introducing us to the wondrous world of sexual magic. The book contains many attractive illustrations, including "The Asanas of Love", and a whole set of chakra mandalas for contemplation and meditation. "Ecstasy Through Tantra" is a celebration of eroticism and sexuality in a spiritual context.

Both I and my fiance' read the book and we both found it easy to read yet very comprehensive for the subject matter. It has brought our relationship to a level niether of us even dreamed of. More than worth the price of the book! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who values trust in their relationship!

Dr Mumford has written an exceptional text that provides the means to returning the transcendental to sexuality, and yet remains true to the philosophical roots of Tantra. It melds the esoteric nature of the East with the practicality of the West into a path of spirit-based sexuality that is accessible to all.

Tantra is more than Sacred Sex, and Dr Mumford draws on his vast knowledge of mysticism and occult practices to bring a greater understanding Tantra to Western readers. His commentary on the Shat Chakras contains a wealth of information on the esoteric symbols used by Tantrik practitioners in ritual and meditation.

It is extremely rare that a work such as this graces the shelves of the book stores. Swami Anandakapila (Dr Jonn Mumford) was one of the first Westerners to accurately and thoroughly disseminate Tantric lineage teachings not only to the West but also to the East.
Many of the books around today contain information and techniques copied from this author's work and most of them do not acknowledge this. It's no coincidence to note that the best books arond today on Tantra DO acknowledge his contribution.
No-one in the West has acheived and taught the Indian Tantric science like he has, and probably no-one will do again.
To say we are fortunate to have works like, "Ecstacy through Tantra" and "Chakra and Kundalini workbook" is an understatement.
I believe that Dr Jonn Mumford is the most underrated author of Esoterica the West has known.

I am interested in Tantra, because I am interested in sex. What human is not!? I am interested in Tantra too, as it is a way of worshiping the divine in the entirety of the mundane / ordinary world. This book satisfies both desires fro knowledge, and gives practical examples of how to use this knowledge. Wisdom is knowledge in action - so this is a wise book.

This book is a wonderful introduction to the the wonders of Tantra. Though not a long book, it has a lot of interesting information. I learned alot about my own body's capabilities and through the techniques, greatly enhanced my enjoyment and my prowess as a lover (and improved my lover's enjoyment as well). Mumford's book is an excellent resource for unusual and powerful insights into the sacred magic of tantra/sexuality. There is a very informative glossary of terms in the book, and explanations about certain aspects that may be surprising. The chapter on the Tantric Weekend is a wonderful guide to share a beautiful and loving retreat with one's partner. I strongly recommend this book to improve relationships not only between lovers but also to one's own potential to touch their own sacred bliss and enjoyment of their own bodies. John Mumford has obviously done his research, because he points out aspects in his book that I've not seen in other books on Tantra. I think the thing I like best about his book is that it allows eastern tantra to meet with the western mind. My current copy is the second one I've bought because the first one I bought became so dog-eared...Highly recommended.

I found this book to have too much discussion and not enough instruction. I was looking for a variety of techniques, but found mostly a lot information about what tantra is. I am interested in achieving a tantric marriage, and this book did not do enough to teach me how.

The greatest pleasure that God and Goddess gave us is the pleasure of our bodies. With beautiful illustrations and photographs of the ancient temples to enhance your journey, you can only go to higher plains in ecstacy with Ecstasy Through Tantra.
