Clearly Ectaco have put much thought and effort into this new device. I purchased from F Henry at considerably less that Ectaco's best offer and also Amazon's. You may find F. Henry cheaper even if you are looking for a different langauge. Ectaco invite your thoughts on pricing as this is pitched too high compared with other options. Reliability is yet to be established. The item is made in Hongkong. Nevertheless this is a nice translator and talking dictionary with many features.
One big step forward is the voices. I have clearly understood English, French and Spanish. Yes there are many languages installed for words and phrases. In this case the teaching is for English/Russian.
To get a better idea of it's capabilities, you can download a PDF manual. A nicely printed book of instructions comes in both chosen languages.
Another reviewer has commented on the reader pen as being slow. There is also a GPS map system which is probably OK for pedestrians, For only a little more you could have a Garmin which can be used in the car. The attachment is held in place by a mini USB - an accident waiting to happen.
In general, I like this device and only hope that it will be working after the guarantee period. Anything need improving? Yes, the screen lights up nicely but since travellers will be going out in the evenings, both the side bars and the keyboard could also be light. Good so far, I may write an update later.
