This thing translates word for word when you enter a phrase and you know that's usually going to give you a terrible translation. Then I sent this thing back with 6 hours of owning it and they charged me like 60$ in restocking and postal fees. The bi-directional translation and pre programed common phrases really helped me out on my trip. I simply enter the phrases i wanted and press play. It's not perfect but the locals understood and i was able to get around with it pretty good. No translator is perfect, local lingos/slangs and language phrases change with the time and that's part of language evolution. Comprehensive translator and easy to use. I bought the cheap one before which had no where near the capabilities as this one. This ES-X5 has a bilingual systems for English and Spanish. Able to synthesize english and spanish speech, it contains a database over a million words!and include professional terms, phrases and everyday expressions and idioms.it also includes a phrasebook containing more than a thousand phrases. i would recommend this to beginners b/c you have to start somewhere, might as well be this.

I took this abroad when i went to visit Spain over the summer and boy am i glad i did. The bi-directional translation and pre programed common phrases really helped me out on my trip. I simply enter the phrases i wanted and press play. It's not perfect but the locals understood and i was able to get around with it pretty good. No translator is perfect, local lingos/slangs and language phrases change with the time and that's part of language evolution. Try getting an english translator to translate "my nizzle that shiznit was off the hizzle, got me crunked up feeling dizzle, bump and grind flossing my bling bling."
