Ed Ames' beautiful baritone voice is never tiring. A person could listen to him sing all day. His original songs and his covers always seemed perfectly done. What a voice!

I have been a collector of Ed Ames recordings for many years now and am glad that these 2 albums have finally been released in digital format. I have these 2 albums on open reel tapes and have transferred them to CD myself. Comparing them to these newly released versions I find a lack of instrumental detail in the new recordings. But worse is that the engineers at Sony have evidently decided to add some totally unnecessary reverberation to Ames' voice. Ames was in his prime when these recordings were made and the additional reverberation detracts from his beautiful sound.

If Sony had done a better engineering job, I would have given this release 5 stars, but as it is, I feel it's only worth 3.

While this release will please many people, if you want to really hear how these recordings sound, try and find them on LP or tape.
