Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking. It's about time the Ed Boys came out by seasons. Why, you ask, did Cartoon Network release two single disc DVDs before this entire first season set? Who knows? Maybe it was one of Eddie's scams. Those volumes, Edifying Ed-Ventures and Fool's Par-Ed-Ise only had six shows each. But here, at last is the Ed-ertainment value of the year: all thirteen episodes (each consisting of two cartoons) from season one on two single discs (with four special features), and at a price that leaves enough left for jawbreakers.
If you did buy the two single disc volumes (like me) the cartoons, "Sir Ed-A-Lot" "Who, What, Where Ed" and "Avast Ye Eds", from the first volume are also on the Season One set. "Fool on the Ed" repeats from the second volume. Season one includes these episodes: 1. "Pop Goes the Ed" and "Over Your Ed" 2. The Ed-Touchables" and "Nagged to Ed" 3. Sir Ed-A-Lot" and "A Pinch to Grow an Ed" 4. "Dawn of the Eds" and "Vert-Ed-Go" 5. "Read All About Ed" and "Quick Shot Ed" 6. "An Ed Too Many" and "Ed-n-Seek" 7. "Look into My Eds" and "Tag Yer Ed" 8. "Fool on the Ed" and "A Boy and His Ed" 9. It's Way-Ed" and "Laugh Ed Laugh" 10. "A Glass of Warm Ed" and "Flea Bitten Ed" 11. "Who, What, Where, Ed!" and "Keeping Up with the Eds" 12. "Eds-Aggerate" and "Oath to an Ed" 13. "Button Yer Ed" and "Avast Ye Eds"

Laugh Your ED off... Some More !,
By Tim Coogan "CN fan" (Millville, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy: The Complete Second Season (DVD)
There's something about "Ed, Edd n Eddy" that makes me laugh... uncontrollably. Whatever the reason, I can laugh some more in the brand new second season DVD set ! Forget five or six stars; I'm rating this SEVEN stars !
Honestly, some of my most favorite ED-isodes are from the second season such as: "Dear ED" - Jonny 2X4 breaks up with Plank and the Eds help him find a new "friend" for him. "To Sir With ED" - Nazz comes over Eddy's house to babysit Eddy, who thinks it's all a date. "Ready, Set, ED !" - The Eds attempt to break a world record. "Shoo ED" - The Eds use Jonny's annoyance on everyone for cash. "Floss Your ED" - Single D has a loose tooth and everybody tries to pull it out. "Home Cooked EDs" - The Kankers vacation in Eddy's front yard. "ED in a Halfshell" - Jimmy becomes Eddy's protege in scheming. "One + One = ED" - The Eds enter a parallel universe they've taken apart. Along with some of these great ED-isodes are some greater special features. They include an in-depth and very informative interview by creator Danny Antonucci, a "How to Draw Ed" feature, two never-before-seen promo spots, and a music video entitled "I'm Not Coming in Today"; better known as "The Incredible Shrinking Day". (I knew it !) Although I'm a tad bummed that Cartoon Network has officially announced the Eds' series finale recently, I won't be too bummed if I keep on buyin' the DVD sets so I can laugh on and on again and again whenever I want to. Hope you do too. And while we're at it, I hope season three is in the works !

Monobrows, Dorks, Sock-heads Oh my!!,
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'N Eddy: The Complete First Season (DVD)
Oh boy. The 1st season on DVD. And for only 15 dollars? Man this is a steal!!! This is probably Cartoon Networks longest and funniest running program. It revolves around 3 adolesents who all have similar names growing up in their cul-de-sac. They go on wild and hysterical adventures trying to scam the other kids out of their money so that they can buy their favorite snack. Jawbreakers. Though they try not to, most of their scams fail and wind up causing more trouble for them. Others shows like The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy or Camp Lazlo have tried to copy this show and they all have failed miserably. Ed'Edd'N'Eddy is truly classic. This show is the meaning of goofy, off-the-wall comedy. Each character has their own uniquness about them. It funny watch how each kid deals with the Eds and their scams. Whether it's Ed's stupidity and funny quotes, Edd's Cleaniness, or Eddy's over-the-top scams and competiveness each character has a hilairious personality trait that will conflict with other personality traits in the show. Another strongpoint this show has is it's animation style which allows it to show emotions, damage, and facial features with ease. This is a show for anybody who has a good sense of humor. It may say it's for kids 7 & up, but this is a show for all ages. It stays true to it's roots of comedy without ever feeling repetitive.(Unlike Family Guy). And believe it or not the show only has 12 characters that are ever shown. But you won't even notice due to the great plots and superior writing. Don't be fooled by the 2 other DVDs: Fools Par-ed-dise and The Mis-Ed-ventures. These only have 6 episodes each from random seasons and cost more than this one. On this you get about 26-28 Ed-tacular episodes from the 1st season. So if you haven't figured it out by now.........BUY IT On OCTOBER 1OTH.......................

Toon Mania,

From the day Danny Antonucci faxed the rough sketch of the Eds to Linda Simensky at Cartoon Network, this early '80s toon was destined to be a classic. Watch the interview with DA on this set and you'll see why. Briefly, this toon introduced the "boiling line" --the outlines are constantly moving. This was initially disconcerting to some viewers, but compare how tastefully nuanced is the movement in this cartoon with the overdone computerized camera used in many live action shows. I could watch this show all day because the character design and backgrounds are so incredible, comparable to early Hanna- Barbera or Peanuts in their restrained "less is more" aesthetic. Contrast that with the CGI music video on this set of "I'm Not Coming In Today," where Sarah has lost all her "Sarah-ness," and the Eds move stiffly. Yawn.
Need more? This is one of the few shows since the Simpsons to feature humans. Like Peanuts or Looney Tunes, it mixes fantasy elements with realistic ones. The shows are also longer-- two to a half hour-- than the HB three to a half hour format they otherwise reflect. DA, known for indie toons Lupo the Butcher and The Brothers Grunt, is the last guy you'd expect to bring the mix of subtlety and innocence that is the secret of every great cartoon, but the first guy who did. In the current animation glut, this secret has been forgotten in the rush to make everything "extreme", which is to say, as overdone and unsubtle as most current live shows. The answer of Suits (or maybe flannel shirts) is to make everything even more extreme in hopes of seducing viewers, a short- sighted strategy if there ever was one. No wonder TV is in trouble. Now, with this great deal on Season two (and Season one also available), this watermark of early '80s toons shows how great a cartoon can be. Watch the Eds, Grasshopper, and learn from the Master.

It's a dream come true ! The "Ed, Edd n Eddy: Complete 1st Season" is now out on DVD ! If I could, I'd rate this item SIX stars intead of five !
Your favorite animated trio (amidst others) star in their first thirteen laugh-loaded ED-isodes with all their friends, and enemies, the Kanker sisters. Some of my favorite ED-isodes include the one where Eddy goes crazy when the whole neighborhood is quarantined, the time when they build a treehouse clubhouse, the one where Eddy hypnotizes everyone to do his bidding, and an episode where Eddy spreads a rumor about the "Mucky Boys". Of course, with two discs of great episodes, there's also some nice special features like an interview with the show's creator, an inside look on how an ED-isode is made, a how-to-draw feature, and a couple of never-before-seen promo spots starring fragile Jimmy. You'll totally enjoy every second of this breakthrough series from Cartoon Network. I certainly hope they put out the Eds' second season really, really soon. I'm way so anxious for that. In fact, I hope other Cartoon Network shows will be out in season sets such as "Johnny Bravo", "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends", "Dexter's Laboratory", or even "Cow and Chicken" and "Grim and Evil" (former name of "Billy and Mandy"). I'm anxious for those, too.

The First Ed, Edd'n Eddy Season of the Year? About Time It Came!,
By
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'N Eddy: The Complete First Season (DVD)
Ed, Edd'n Eddy was a U.S.A - Canada made cartoon for Cartoon Network and turned out to be one of the five
longest and most successful animated series on Cartoon network. It was first aired in 1999 and started with four seasons. Cartoon Network later demanded more and two more seasons were made making all together six seasons. It is about three boys who live in a place named the "Cul - de - sac" spending most of their time trying to trick the other kids into falling for their "scams" mostly planned by Eddy, the self appointed leader of the Ed - team in order to win the other kids' savings to buy oversized sphered candy balls, in fact larger than their heads called jawbreakers at the candy store. Their plans usually fail somewhere along the way mostly messed up by Eddy or Ed or sometimes all three together. All the characters are kids and adults are nowhere to be seen, altough one can assume that one is there when a truck is stopping by but you never hear or see the person. Another character that is often mentioned but never seen or heard is Eddy's brother. All the kids fear him exept Sarah and Nazz. Kevin is afraid he might beat him up. He starts to sweat with the greatest fear only at the mention of Eddy's brother. Rolf is afraid he will come and take all his chickens. Nazz is extremely fond of him and at the mention of him she would do anything as quick as she can to be at her best to go and meet him. Another character which is very often seen but quite lifeless is Plank. He is Jonny's imaginary best friend and they are hardly seen sepperated. Only Jonny can hear and understand what plank is saying. Ed is physically very strong, in fact the strongest of all around but he has nothing in his head. He is very simple minded, his room is in the dirtiest and slimiest part of the house basement. He never washes and is even scared of soap. He is only interested in monster comic books and monster movies and often confuses them with reallity. He is completely under the command of his younger sister Sarah and greatly fears she will tell their mom if he does not do what she says. He also loves buttered toast and gravy. Edd is the brains of the gang. He is very much interested in research, mostly in scientific ways and often does scientific experiments. He is very sensitive about cleanliness and tidyness of places and himself. He is the inventor of the scam machinery if any is needed. He is extremely clever and usually gets by far the highest scores in school in all the subjects. His parents communicates to him through sticky notes telling him what he must do each day when his parents are not at home. Because of his hat he wares, under which he appearently hides something horribly stuck to his head and can probably not be removed which only Ed and Eddy knows about that is more like a hat or cap you pull over you head when you go swimming but has some part that still hangs like a sock, everyone gave him the nickname "Sockhead". His room is more than clean and in order and everything is in its place and level and every single thing you lay your eyes on is labled, including the walls the bed, the desk, chair, the closet, room door etc. Eddy is over active and every day he tries to come up with new scams to get the other kids' money. Every day he tries new sneaky ideas and each day he feals 100% sure that his scam will work. Eddy's greatest mistakes are probably that he doesn't think what the results or consequences could be if he should fail. He only thinks about the present. Even when Edd sometimes tries to warn him with all his might Eddy doesn't listen. The other thing he doesn't do is think back and try to learn from previous mistakes he made in order not to let it happen again. Eddy mostly just lie around while Ed and Edd build his scams for him. Eddy has a room with a shifting door to the outside and an enormous bed with a round matress, a disco ball hanging in the middle of the ceiling, a record player with several records and a yellow vulcano lamp beside his bed. Eddy is the shortest among all the kids in the neighbourhood and is very ashamed of his middle name which is "Skipper". Ed, Edd'n Eddy is a hilarious animated comedy series mainly about three boys trying to win the other kids in the neighbourhood's money by means of scams planned by Eddy to buy jawbreakers at the candy store. The scams usually fail and that is mostly where the comedy comes in. The main things that plays the greatest rolls in these episodes that bring the comedy in in the failing of the scams are misunderstandings, too much expectations, too little trust in others, fear of others and things and mostly not thinking straight or not thinking at all. It is suitable for the whole family of all ages to enjoy.
