3.0 out of 5 stars Five stars for the show, three for the DVD!
Okay, I have been watching the funny antics of the "Ed, Edd n Eddy" cartoon show since they first premiered in 1999. (I was in the seventh grade at the time) In addition, I NEVER get tired of its smart, witty humor and crude animation despite the fact that some of the newer episodes REALLY suck! I'm very glad to FINALLY see creator, Danny Antonucci and everyone else at...

5.0 out of 5 stars At Last the Long Await-Ed DVD, February 20, 2005
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy - Season 1, Vol. 1 (DVD)
Get your buttered toast and pull up a seat; it's finally here, this Ed-citing Ed-stravaganza on DVD. Even the witty title and excellent cover art will have Ed heads slaverying like unsuspecting victims of Eddy's latest scam; it's the un mistakeable Antonucci magic. Volume One contains six Ed-ventures: Sir Ed-a-Lot; Who, What, Where, Ed; Avast Ye Eds; Know-It All Ed; Mirror, Mirror, on the Ed; Hot-Buttered Ed. Plus--get ready-- you get a bonus 'toon of Billy, Mandy and Grim, Nursery Crimes. Throw water on anyone who's fainted because there's still more to come. The Plank video! "My Best Friend Plank" the friendly update of Harry Nilson's theme from "The Courtship of Eddy's Father." Get it, Eddy's father! How many injokes are in this show anyway? Could it be better? Sure-- how about all of season one together in a Golden Collection like the Jetsons and the Flintstones? Is Cartoon Network testing the waters, like they think it won't sell? C'mon! Have you ever seen Ed, Edd and Eddy? The character designs? The background graphics? The witty writing and clever dialogue? This is one cartoon I'm waiting for Warners to merchandise: I want my supersoaker to look like a Canadian squirtgun. I want to own crazy low tech gadgets from double D's fertile brain. AKA Cartoon must be a pretty fun place to work because laughter comes easy in this good-natured cartoon, which tops my most-watched 'toons list (check out the interview with Danny A. at alivingdog.com). So when do the Eds get the star treatment? Sure I bought this single DVD--any Eds is good Eds, but as with ReBoot, Pinky and the Brain and The Alvin Show, I'm eagerly awaiting the boxed set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great show! Wish I had thought of it..., April 13, 2005
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy - Season 1, Vol. 1 (DVD)
Ed Edd n Eddy is a great cartoon depicting life as a suburban preteen. The plot basically revolves around three neighborhood outcasts who join forces to obtain money, jawbreakers, or both. They have constant run-ins with the local kids, most of whom don't like them very much. Almost all the characters in the show are perfect spoofs of social molds:

Ed is the local idiot. He makes Forrest Gump look like a genius by comparison. He is a complete slob and often messes up Eddy's scams, but is still a loyal friend and very lovable.
Catch phrase(s): "Buttered toast!", "Gravy!", "I love chickens, Eddy!"

Edd (aka Double D) is the smartest and most mature of the Eds. He is often the voice of reason and caution, but usually comes off as an annoying goody-goody worrywart. He also has something hidden under his hat that no one knows about except Ed and Eddy.
Catch phrase(s): "Oh dear!"

Eddy, the leader, has only 2 loves in his life: cash and jawbreakers. He has the personality of a car salesman and an ego twice the size of his mouth. He is alot like Cartman in South Park: selfish, greedy, annoying, and always coming up with money-making scemes that almost never work.
Catch phrase(s): "We're gonna be rich!"

Sara is Ed's abominable little sister. Boy do I feel sorry for Ed. Sara is every spoiled brat who ever lived, and is extremely mean to Ed (and everyone else except Jimmy). And yet Ed remains unwaiveringly loyal and protective of her, even after all the abuse she dishes out at him on a daily basis.
Catch phrase(s): "OOOOHHHH YOU'RE IN TROUBLE ED!!!!!!!"

Jimmy is Sara's best friend. He is basically a weak, accident-prone, cowardly, effeminite wussy boy who is scared of his own shadow and has to wear headgear, which often causes him to suffer more injuries.
Catch phrase(s): "Whaaaa! Sara! Help!"

Kevin is the most popular kid on the block. He's also the only one who truly hates the Eds. He refuses to ever fall for their scams and treats them with extreme contempt, especially Eddy, who absoulutely hates his guts. He is Nazz's best friend, although it is obvious he has designs on her, which only causes Eddy to hate him more.
Catch phrase(s): "Dorks!"

Johnny 2x4 is the weird social reject. His behaviour constantly confounds everyone else, although the Eds often use him as a pawn in one of their scams. His best (and only) friend is a piece of wood with a face drawn on it, named Plank.
Catch phrase(s): "What's that, Plank?"

Plank is Johnny's best friend; a piece of wood with a face drawn on it. Not suprisingly, he never talks, and seems to be much smarter than Johnny
Catch phrase(s): (just sits there)

Rolf is a foreign exchange kid who raises many farm animals and crops in his backyard. He is a workaholic, and no one understands his customs. Nevertheless, his affiable personality and superstitiousness makes him an easy target for the Eds' scams.
Catch phrase(s): "Hello, Ed boys!"

Nazz is the girl every guy has a crush on. Well, actually between her, Sara, and the Kankers, she's the only approachable girl in the neighborhood. She is trendy, popular, and is nicer to the Eds than anyone else, despite the fact that they are rendered speechless whenever she's around. Eddy and Kevin constantly compete for her affections.
Catch phrase(s): "Awesome!"

Last, but certainly not least, are May, Marie, and Lee; the amorous Kanker sisters. The Kankers live in a trailer park, and are ugly, disruptive, and constantly bickering. Everyone in the neighborhood hates and fears the Kankers, but the Eds fear them the most. And for good reason. The Kankers are in love with the Eds and will stop at nothing to marry them.
Catch phrase(s): "It's our boyfriends!"

I am an avid Ed, Edd n Eddy fan. With the release of the DVD I will be able to take my Eds with me wherever I go! I have every episode recorded on my DVR from Cartoon Network and have been hoping for a DVD release for a while now. To give this DVD a 5 star rating even before the release is still an understatement. I would give it a higher rating if it was available.

Ed Ed Eddy and the simpsons are tied. They are both great shows. My friend "peter mong" thinks that the eds are dumb because they have no swears or violence in them. Well, HE is wrong. So what if they have no grown up stuff!! The eds rule!!
If you hate the eds, you have a big space in your brain saying "FOR RENT"

I'm very glad to FINALLY see creator, Danny Antonucci and everyone else at AKA cartoon release the Ed-boys on DVD! However, the title of this is a lie, considering the fact that some of the episodes are NOT of Season One but also a bit from Season Two! Secondly, why not give us ALL the episodes for Season One in one little package (like how Fox did with "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy") and then do the other Seasons as well? This is a great show, but I think it deserves a better DVD treatment which is why I only give this item three stars. I'm hoping they'll eventually come around (and I think other fans would agree with me) and give us FULL SEASON boxed sets!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ED,EDD,N EDDY DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, May 5, 2005
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy - Season 1, Vol. 1 (DVD)
To let you know I am going to buy it as soon as it comes out.The reason is that IT IS GOING TO BE THE BEST!!!!!Here is why...

ED:ED can not be not funny! He is the funniest guy EVER!!!There is not a single saying that he says that is not funny!!!!!

EDD:He is always funny when he does every thing that ED and EDDY do.

EDDY:EDDY can be funny by his dally scam. His scams are funny because it always turns out, that he doesn't get one quarter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Ed, Edd, and Eddy on DVD!!!!!!!!!, February 23, 2005
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy - Season 1, Vol. 1 (DVD)
Everyone of the Ed, edd, and eddy episodes are entertaining and hilarious to watch. I know even without seeing this DVD, that it will be worth it. I have probably seen every episode, but ever since I watched this show I knew I wanted the entire serious. I cannot wait until the rest of the episodes come out to buy, because I will be first in line to purchase them. I have been waiting a long time for this to come.

3.0 out of 5 stars This product does not do the series justice., July 31, 2005
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy - Season 1, Vol. 1 (DVD)
Welcome ladies and germs, as I give you a total and complete run-down of the brand new Ed Edd n Eddy DVD. Not really sure why these online stores say "Season 1" when the word "season" doesn't actually appear on the box at all from what I can see. Plus it contains episodes from both season 1 and 2 so, that could be a little misleading.

So! What episodes are on the DVD? Well, first off we have Sir Ed-a-Lot, next it's Who, What, Where, Ed. Followed by Avast Ye Eds and Know-It-All Ed. Then my two personal faves, Mirror, Mirror, on the Ed and Hot-Buttered Ed.
The quality of the episodes on this disc is magnificent. Play it on a huge TV and you'll be in for a treat.
I could go on about each episode individually, but I'm sure you've seen them all before, as CN really does like to milk this series a little too much at times, and since this is a review for the DVD and not an episode review, we'll jump right on to the extra DVD features!
The first extra bonus you recieve on the disc is Club Ed: The Rules and Regulations. Now, this could have been done a lot better if they hadn't re-used tired old pictures and clips. It wasn't really that clever either, and they only used clips from the episodes included on the disc, which meant a lot of the same thing over and over. Basically, The Rules and Regulations was some guy talking about fancy rules such as hygiene and manners, while suitable clips were being shown.
Next is My Best Friend Plank the music video. This was a pretty snazzy thing to stick on the disc. The visuals aren't too hot, but it's definately worth watching. Note that it originally aired on Cartoon Network in 2002.
The next extra is Planks Perspective. This was basically the same as the first feature, being it's just a bunch of clips, this time voiced by Jonny. In this featurette, Jonny talks about his and Planks view of the characters from the show. This would be good for someone who didn't know much about the show to begin with, except for some reason they miss Nazz. Another depressingly dull bonus.
There is also a Billy & Mandy episode on the disc which classes as a bonus. Again, good quality and good episode, but a little out of place on an Ed Edd n Eddy DVD don't you think? The episode is Nursery Crimes.
But, by far the most interesting thing about the disc is the ability to change the spoken language of any episode to French or Spanish. It's fun to see what the characters sound like in foreign dubs and adds a little more longevity to the DVD.
There are also trailers. Now, I don't know if every disc has the same, but with my copy I had trailers for Teen Titans and The Batman. While they were rather impressive and did get me interested, these particular shows aren't even closely related to Ed Edd n Eddy. You'd think they'd advertise shows similar to the discs main content rather than shows which are aimed at a different audience all together.
Oh, and I also enjoyed the box cover by Scott. I'd buy it just for that really. It's a shame AKA didn't have more involvement with it's production. Needless to say, they were rather disappointed with it as was I.
Overall, impressive episode selection and multi-language support really is a tasty cake mix. Unfortunately, the frosting of extra features tastes like cabbage. But for a cake... I mean, DVD, the price was very cheap even when I paid for the international shipping costs. With £5, I could have had the Eds DVD, or a Burger King meal... Hmmmm.
On a scale of 1-10 (1 being worst and 10 being best), I rate this a 6.

5.0 out of 5 stars This DVD Might Be The Best!, June 26, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy - Season 1, Vol. 1 (DVD)
Great TV show!!! I love Ed, Edd n Eddy, it is really funny.
I rated it 5 stars because this DVD might be the best, but I
didn't have this DVD yet. In this DVD, you will find the Eds'
special features included "Club Ed: The Rules and Regulations,"
next is "Plank's Perspective," after that is The Plank music video, "My Best Friend Plank." Plus, the DVD has a Cartoon Network bonus: The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy in "Nursery Crime." There are six Ed-isodes and don't forget to see all the Eds' Ed-ventures. You will love this DVD, you will like all their Ed-ventures. Also, I forgot to tell you that this DVD have lots of laughs, jokes, and funny parts in the show.
