About the Author

Ed Freeman himself is an absolute multi-talent. After working for 25 years as musician and producer he decided to focus his energies on photography. His motifs are for the most part nudes and landscapes that he often turns into dramatic scenes with the help of computer technology. In doing so he has described an incredibly expressive photographic language. His works have been published in countless magazines and anthologies. "Work" is his first solo publication, which is now available in a soft-cover edition. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

3.0 out of 5 stars More than a little disappointed...., October 11, 2000

This review is from: Ed Freeman: Work (Hardcover)
I'm usually very impressed by the books that Bruno Gmunder publishes, but this one is the exception. A few of the photos are quite beautiful, but most of them are lacking feeling -- they're just perfect bodies standing there, and often not even well-lit. Where the work of Steven Underhill, Howard Roffman and Jeff Palmer evokes something in me, this book doesn't move me at all. The print quality is also not quite up to par; many of the color pictures look like they were printed on an inkjet printer, because you can see all the little dots that went into making up the image.

Before you buy this one, I'd really recommend browsing through it at your local bookstore to make sure it's what you want. "Artistic nudes" doesn't quite describe it, because they're just plain ol' nudes.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEAUTY Beyond Compare!, October 7, 2000
This review is from: Ed Freeman: Work (Hardcover)
Words can't describe this beautiful new book of male nudes from Ed Freeman. It's a true celebration of the athletic, muscular beauty of the male body. These photos are perfect creations that have been aided by the help of the computer, to present a dramatic view (background, lighting, etc) that is truly an art form in itself. These models are very beautiful, handsome muscular men, (no full frontal nudes) who are truly at that age of body perfection. Many shots are of singular men and there are many couples in erotic embraces.

Ed Freeman was born and raised in New England. His erotic photos and images have been published in many books, magazines, calendars, and posters everywhere. I am so glad that he has finally published his own book. This is one of the best books of male nudes (in both content and appearance) that I have seen in a long time. As a collector of male nude photography books this one is a must for your collection.
