gorgeous upbeat arabic music, July 10, 2009
This review is from: Eddam El Kel (Audio CD)
if you're looking for beautiful arabic music that is danceable yet retains its ethnic charm, this is a great album- with beautiful singing, beautiful arrangements and quality production. everything from concept to delivery is well thought-out and well worth the money. it's not many times i can find a CD where i like all the songs on the disc, but this is one of those rare cases. there is a definite element of commonality among the rhythms on each track, but different enough for each to distinguish themselves from one another. make no mistake though, melody is front and center here. the positive side to the similarity is that it creates a seamless line which draws each piece smoothly to the next. there are no awkward pauses or abrupt transitions. this makes for a very pleasant listen, and Darine Hadchiti has a beautiful voice. i also recommend Nancy Ajram, Shereen, Gawaher, Sofia Marikh, Ruby, Karina, Ranin, Sarah Al Hani, ZeeZee Adel, Linda George, Aseel Omran, Myriam Faris, Carole Samaha, Amani al Souwasi, Shani, and El Samah if you like this kind of music. all are artists of high calibre and draw substantial similarities to Darine Hadchiti.
