Use it constantly, July 3, 2008
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed (Baby Product)
We have the original product without the mobile. We have used this constantly since we brought him home. We set it in an antique cradle to keep him safe during naps. Once he could raise up on his elbows, we moved it to the floor for naps. He is now 9 months old and crawling. He is able to get out of it when he wants to (which is hilarious to watch) so the floor is safest! We have traveled with it packed in a suitcase and in the car. We choose to take this instead of a playyard. It is so much easier and smaller. He is sleeping in it right now. I wish they had extra sheets to purchase for it since we use it so much. I'll get to making one with my sewing machine by the time he is in high school.

Used It Constantly...Until he out grew it., January 13, 2009
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed (Baby Product)
When I saw this bed while registering for baby items before my son was born I just thought, "What a pointless item. Why would you need that if you already have a playpen or Pack 'n' Play?" However, after many a visit with friends and family and a cranky sleepy baby that just could not go to sleep we went to Target and bought this bed.
This is hands down, one of the BEST baby items I own. When my son was still small we just kept this compact bed in the car. Whenever we went to friends houses we would just bring this bed and set it up on the floor of a spare quiet room. Our son enjoyed having his own familiar space to sleep in. I even took it to the laundromat with me and he was able to fall asleep in it while I folded laundry.
The mattress is rather flat but my son never seemed to mind. We usually brought some spare receiving blankets to cover the mat with since the sheet it comes with is pretty cheap. It made for quicker clean up too if he spit up in the bed. The pockets on the outside are generous and I kept 5 diapers and a thin box of wipes in the pockets at all times, (which came in handy when I'd forget the diaper bag) and it still fit nicely in the zip plastic packaging it comes in. He also enjoyed the toy bar when awake, but if you plan on toting the toy bar around with you just keep the plastic bag it comes in.
I really like this bed and it is among the items that I would purchase for other new moms. I often got comments from friends with older children that they wished they had had something like this when their kids were babies. There are other portable beds on the market but I think this one is just right for the price.
My son is now almost 9 months old and over 21 lbs and I have packed it away in exchange for the heavier, bulkier but bigger and sturdier
Graco Pack 'n Play Playard with Bassinet in Rise and Shine. I miss having such a light convenient item for him to sleep in but alas, it will wait for the next baby.
I wouldn't recommend it for regular overnight sleeping but it works great for naps and visits with friends, it would also be great for camping with your small baby.

Great for other uses, July 3, 2008

I have found this to be more handy than I anticipated. When using it as a bed at grandma's house it worked fine though I prefer the pack'n'play if I have the room, but I have had more use out of it in the swimming pool changing room. I can change my baby anywhere in there with a lot more security. Now when I am getting dressed I don't have to keep one hand on the little wiggle worm. I can't tell you how many "That's a great idea" comments I get.
