3.0 out of 5 stars Little noisey
I purchased this for upcoming trips for my 3 month old but never actually used it. Each time I put her down in it she seemed scared. I don't know if it was the sound the material made (a plastic scratching noise)- but she didn't like it and certainly never slept in it. Very compact but didn't do me any good!

My baby is so long that she outgrew this quickly, but it was a compact and inexpensive solution for travel and day trips. I added a waterproof pad to add more plushness, but it's handy for naps at all-day outdoor venues, for the pool, etc. It also afforded a little privacy when changing her diapers and corraling her gear while we were in the pool. It was fine for overnight stays at hotels (and before baby could turn over), but I'd either use the hotel crib or pack a portable playard for longer trips. The mobile arch was handy for draping a thin blanket to block out light.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could be better, September 11, 2009

Mom-to-be (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed the On-the-go Sleep and Play Solution (Baby Product)
I registered for this product, and received it at my baby shower. Haven't yet used it (still waiting for baby to arrive), but it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting from the online description. It is very similar to other products, but cheaper. I will update this review once I've used it & see how my baby likes it.
My only complaints (if you'd call them that) are:
1) that the fitted sheet is pretty average - very thin cotton, and just four little triangles of material in the corners to "fit" it to the mattress pad, so it doesn't stay on very well. Plus you can't buy them separately to have a few spare in case of "blow-outs". But I remedied this simply by buying some cheap single pillow cases, which are the perfect size (30 x 19"), and much more secure than the sheet that came with it.
2) that the "mattress pad" is very thin, and hard (it is just a sheet of corrugated plastic with a thin waterproof covering)... I know you're not supposed to have super-soft beds for babies, but this is excessively hard). I looked around for mattress pads that I could use instead, but nothing comes in that 30 x 19" size (except a cradle pad I found at Babies R Us - but it was 1.5" thick, and therefore wouldn't fold up with the travel bed). Am planning on going to a craft store (or similar) and buying some thin foam or similar that I can insert INTO the existing mattress next to the corrugated plastic underneath the waterproof cover... it is constructed so that you can do this easily, and retain the water-proofness of the mattress, and keep the mattress in one piece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Until Our Son Outgrew It., November 11, 2010
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed the On-the-go Sleep and Play Solution (Baby Product)
This is the review I wrote for the previous style of Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed, it was basically just a different color. When I saw this bed while registering for baby items before my son was born I just thought, "What a pointless item. Why would you need that if you already have a playpen or Pack 'n' Play?" However, after many a visit with friends and family and a cranky sleepy baby that just could not go to sleep we went to Target and bought this bed.
This is hands down, one of the BEST baby items I own. When my son was still small we just kept this compact bed in the car. Whenever we went to friends houses we would just bring this bed and set it up on the floor of a spare quiet room. Our son enjoyed having his own familiar space to sleep in. I even took it to the laundromat with me and he was able to fall asleep in it while I folded laundry.
The mattress is rather flat but my son never seemed to mind. We usually brought some spare receiving blankets to cover the mat with since the sheet it comes with is pretty cheap. It made for quicker clean up too if he spit up in the bed. The pockets on the outside are generous and I kept 5 diapers and a thin box of wipes in the pockets at all times, (which came in handy when I'd forget the diaper bag) and it still fit nicely in the zip plastic packaging it comes in. He also enjoyed the toy bar when awake, but if you plan on toting the toy bar around with you just keep the plastic bag it comes in.
I really like this bed and it is among the items that I would purchase for other new moms. I often got comments from friends with older children that they wished they had had something like this when their kids were babies. There are other portable beds on the market but I think this one is just right for the price.
My son is now 2 and a half I have packed it away in exchange for the heavier, bulkier but bigger and sturdier Graco Pack 'n Play Playard with Bassinet in Rise and Shine. I miss having such a light convenient item for him to sleep in but alas, it will wait for the next baby.
I wouldn't recommend it for regular overnight sleeping but it works great for naps and visits with friends, it would also be great for camping with your small baby. I plan on purchasing this for all our expecting friends, an item that you wouldn't expect to need but if you plan on going out to friends and family with a baby, it is indispensable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best bed traveller, July 14, 2010

This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed the On-the-go Sleep and Play Solution (Baby Product)
We used this travel bed on our trip to Maui. We sat first class on Alaska air and it fit perfectly on the ground in front of us. We used it every day pool side right next to our loungers. It folds very compact and the two pouches hold the mobile and a blanket perfectly. The blanket is good to out at the bottom since the cushion is not very substantial, but is made that way so it can fold to a compact size. This bed made our vacation heaven! Our child is 6 months for, but I feel like it will still be used until she is 9 months.

4.0 out of 5 stars good travel bed, February 15, 2011
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed the On-the-go Sleep and Play Solution (Baby Product)
I purchased this travel bed at Target, for a recent trip with my 5 month old. We were flying to our destination and I didn't want to carry a cumbersome pack and play around. This fit very well in my suitcase and is very easy to set up and put away.
The product is not supposed to be used for an infant who can roll, however I found that as long as we used it for sleeping and not playing, it was fine. My son is able to roll over completely from front to back and back to front, however he does not roll while sleeping, or when falling asleep. If you have a rolly poly baby this product may not be an option for you. For us, this was not a suitable play place because he does roll when playing and the space is small, and the walls are not meant to support any weight. My son did very well sleeping in this bed though.
I like that the travel bed has a removable pad/mattress and a sheet is included to fit this pad. We plan to use this as our son grows for diaper changes on the road when changing tables aren't available. I give this product 4 stars because the walls are not very strong, but it would be heavier if the walls were sturdier. I also only give 4 stars because it is small and my son will soon be too long to use it. But again, this is part of it's portability. We do not use the over head toy bar because my son is able to pull the toys off the bar without assistance.
Over all, a very good product, and a good solution for travel when a pack and play or crib are not options.

My baby outgrew this by four months, and he's not even a tall or big baby! It is awesome for travelling but I wish it were bigger. Very lightweight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very convenient!, December 5, 2010
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed the On-the-go Sleep and Play Solution (Baby Product)
I got this as a present from my aunt when my baby was 3 months old, he is now 15 months, he no longer fits comfortably, but it has been a great gift to receive! It has been very usefull, even to use it as a co-sleeper when my baby got the flu, and when we where overnight away from home.

What you see in the photo is exactly what the bed looks like. The little mobile bar works pretty well. The bed is compact when folded and good for infants to lay in or sleep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great, March 23, 2010

This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed the On-the-go Sleep and Play Solution (Baby Product)
This item is exactly as it is shown. I noticed that some of the other reviews complained of the hard sleep surface. I didn't really think it was that bad, but I used a wedged sleep positioner for my baby, so it has worked great. The baby sleeps just as well in it as he sleeps in his crib. He loves the mobile -except the mobile is a bit awkward to carry -there really is not a good spot to stash it. We use the travel bed in our motor home (we put it on the bed that converts from a table). The bed is big enough for the baby and small enough that we can use the motor home bed as the place for the travel bed, changing pad, and all the things the baby needs while we are gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life saver!, April 30, 2012
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed the On-the-go Sleep and Play Solution (Baby Product)
I bought this bed before my 4th child was born. I used it every day for months. Instead of a large packnplay or bassinet (which baby did not like), I placed this bed in the livingroom floor near the wall. My 3 yo was able to go see baby without trying to wake him by climbing on the baby bed, or go to baby's room to disturb. Instead sibling could go check on baby anytime without disruption. Siblings learned to let baby sleep. Baby learned to nap during the day with all the noise of a busy household, leaving all the "ssshh, baby is sleeping" out of the equation. Since baby was used to sleeping here, trips were fantastic. We just took baby's bed with us. I love love love this product. I also used one as a travel bed for my first daughter many years before. It was given to me so I did not know what it was! Love love, Thank you for such a great product.
SAHM of 4, who travels.
