Great for Family or Scouts!, March 10, 2003
This review is from: Eddie Bauer 8 Person Sport Dome Tent (Misc.)
We bought this tent and have enjoyed numerous camping experience in varied weather without one problem! It is roomy, weather-proof and oh, so cozy! We blow up our Eddie Bauer self-inflating air mattresses and have tons of room for our gear when we go as a family, and even with bunches of scouts at camp! Being able to stargaze at night through the skylight is awesome!! We absolutely LOVE this tent and recommend it highly!

Lots of room, bad zippers, July 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Eddie Bauer 8 Person Sport Dome Tent (Misc.)
This tent sets up quickly and provides ample room for our family of 4 - one of whom is 6'10" tall. Kids like having their seperate spaces, & it's great to get this much tent without needing a special cart to carry it. Just went through a series of thunderstorms in the Sierras & all seams leaked, but that's our fault - didn't seal the seams. However, it was apparent that the fly is not big enough/doesn't cover the tent well enough. If the lower seams had been covered (the seam where the stripe begins at the bottom), we would have had minimal leaks, even w/out sealant. Our only beef: the zippers are not sturdy enough to withstand children going in/out repeatedly. We are down to 2 operational doors - the other two split & do not self-repair.

Instructions need work, June 29, 2004
This review is from: Eddie Bauer 8 Person Sport Dome Tent (Misc.)
Overall, this tent is ok. The one we got was missing the gear loft (I'm hunting around to see if we can get one), and the instructions sewn into the storage bag looked like they were meant for another model of tent. Not a bonus when you're having to set it up at night using lanterns and flashlights. Even the pictures in the instructions didn't match our tent. In the process, one of the tent poles broke, which made matters worse. Thank goodness for duct tape! Once we got it assembled, it worked fine. Good amount of floor space, but I still don't see how they imagine you're getting 8 people in it, unless they're all packed like sardines and don't have ANY extra gear. As a friend said a while back, take those recommendations, and divide by two, if you plan on having ANYTHING but bodies in the tent. Also, be aware that, no matter what it says about the rain, if you get morning dew, ANY place you touch the tent below the rainfly is going to get a bit damp on the inside. Haven't had a tent yet that didn't do it.
