Before a trip we had taken, my husband and I had stopped at Babies R Us to purchase a diaper back pack to carry. We have an umbrella stroller and the storage underneath was not enough to lug around our baby equipment. So after checking out every single back pack on display, we opted for the Eddie Bauer one, simply because it had lots of pockets and compartments to store things and it seemed well-designed and convenient. It fit everything we needed for our baby; there was a handy changing pad and baby wipe/diaper storage pad that was convenient for us, hidden pockets, a place to store our keys, wallet, tickets, cellphones, etc. We loved it throughout the day and my husband kept commenting on how much he liked it.

But as the day came to an end, just like the previous reviewer, we noticed that the lining had come apart inside and had shredded. It was hard to close the back pack without having to zip into all that thread. It was horrible and frustrating! Luckily, by the time all this had happened, our day at the amusement park was over so we no longer needed the diaper bag. But it was such a waste of $37 for a diaper bag that we had only used ONCE! Who would have ever thought that it would fall apart on us on the same day we bought it! Wish I had read the reviews before I bought it. It would have otherwise been a pretty good diaper bag!

2.0 out of 5 stars attractive bag, poor inside construction, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Pack Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
We have had the exact same experience as the previous two reviewers. We really liked the item but in a short time realized the inner lining started to tear away. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to review the product before it was purchased for us.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't hold up, June 19, 2005

We purchased this backpack to take on a week-long trip (we have a 2-year-old son. For the first few days, it worked great. Plenty of space, bottle holders on either side (we used it for sippy cups and water bottles!). However, days before the trip ended, all of the inside lining ripped off from the top down. So any time we'd try to reach in and get something, our hands would get caught in a tangled "web" of mesh. Thus, we returned the backpack to the store once we returned home from our trip. Definitely not worth the hassle or the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor construction, July 7, 2005
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Pack Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I was very excited about this bag because it seemed to have everything I needed in terms of space and compartments. However, once I started using it, it kept tipping forward every time I put it down (my wallet isn't that heavy!) and after 2 weeks of normal use, the lining ripped. I wish that I had read the reviews before purchasing it at my local store. I assumed that the Eddie Bauer name meant that it was well constructed; however, as with many baby products, I have discovered that the name very rarely denotes quality! I would not recommend purchasing this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BAG, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Pack Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
This bag is awefull. The lining is cheap. The bag is small. Not well made or designed. A waste of money. I purchesed one diaper bag with my first child and it lasted until my second child was born 2.5 years later just showing some wear and tear. This was my second diaper bag with my second and it only lasted a few months.

I too wish that I had read the reviews before purchasing this bag. My husband and I agreed on this bag for two reasons- 1. It was Eddie Bauer and 2. He would carry it also (it was not too fufu looking).

We purchased it prior to a trip to Colorado after two weeks the inner linning of the outside pocket ripped all over- not only do things get lost inside- the inner stuffing of the linning rips and gets all over your things- this does pose a safety hazard for your little one- it cn get on their blanket and then ingested.

After rading the other reviews I am wondering why Eddie Bauer has not recalled the bag.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lining Tears Easily, December 20, 2005

Like some of the others, I went through 2 of these bags before I gave up on it. The lining tore on the first bag after a month of use and on the second one after 2 weeks of use. I like the "layout" of the bag; however the quality is not good. I'm now trying a different style of an Eddie Bauer bag to see if it will work better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money!!, December 28, 2005
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Pack Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I wish I had read the previous reviews before buying this bag. Like the other reviewers, I am on bag number 2, in which the lining has ripped again in less than 4 months. Unfortunately Babies R Us will not let me return it as their 90 day return policy has expired and told me to call the manufacturer. I have done so but no one has called me back.

With my first child, I had great luck with a gray Eddie Bauer backpack and thought this one would be just as good.

I am not counting on seeing my money back and have purchased a backpack from Baby Innovations that I am hoping will not be as shoddily constructed as this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed......again., October 19, 2005
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Pack Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I received this backpack as a gift and before I used it, I realized the fabric on the handle had separated as though it wasn't stitched properly. I easily exchanged it, but after using the second one for just a few weeks, the inner lining has ripped about 4 inches. I plan to exchange it again for another brand of diaper backpack and hope for better quality!

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible - on my second one., October 15, 2005
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Pack Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
Same problem as everyone else. I wish I too would have read reviews before putting this on my registry. Eddie Bauer is a good name, not in this case. The lining ripped after 10 weeks, luckily Babies R Us exchanged it at no extra charge but the second one did the same thing. I'm torn now because I just love this bag and so does my husband. It was a great price, but I guess you get what you pay for. Bummer for me...
