4.0 out of 5 stars good everyday bag
This bag is great for running errands. Now that my daughter is 6 mos old, I don't need the very large diaper bag I originally received as a shower gift. This one holds an extra change of clothes, diapers and wipes, a few toys, my keys, wallet and cell phone and a changing pad. It fits comfortably when worn and also fits nicely across the bars of my stroller. I haven't...

Buyer Beware! Within 5 months of normal use, there is a hole in the interior that makes the internal zipper pocket unusable (nothing small stays inside), and the carrying strap has nearly ripped off. When I contacted Eddie Bauer, they said that they do not guarantee or provide a warranty on any of their products, and I was welcome to buy a different model instead. No apology at all.

I love the design (sling), but if you want this type of bag, I would go for a sturdy sling bag designed for laptops or other heavy and hard-wearing use rather than this poorly constructed model. Very disappointed in the bag and Eddie Bauer. I'll never buy another of their bags again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Well Designed, March 10, 2006

I personally picked out this bag so I only blame myself. I wanted a messenger bag thinking it would be easier to use when carrying my baby and would be a bag my husband would like. Well, my husband thinks it is great because he is a big guy and tall enough to carry the thing when it is stuffed with everything I need just to go out for a day and it also does not look like a diaper bag.

The problem is with the design of the interior of the bag. There is one large zippered pocket that is along the back interior. On the outside of this pocket are three small open pockets - two insulated for bottles and one mesh. On the inside front is one large pocket with a small velcro closure. What drives me crazy about this bag is that as soon as you put something as small as a onesie, a pair of socks and a hat in the zippered pocket, a bottle or jar of food in the small pockets, and a thin wipe holder in the velcro pocket, you can't use the main interior space. Everything blocks access to the bottom of the bag and it narrows as it gets to the top, so if you stuff anything in the bag it is a real hassle to get to the pockets (especially when you have a wiggly baby you are trying to change). If you put diapers in this section(only four will do it), then they take up too much space to put bottles in the insulated sections. If you keep the changing pad in the outside back pocket, then the bag gets even bulkier and becomes uncomfortable to carry.

Again, this is not a problem for my husband but IF YOU ARE UNDER 5'6" DO NOT BUY THIS BAG. It will not lie flat against your back without the strap choking you and it is too bulky to carry in the front, especially if you take advantage of the very large two front pockets (and since these have magnetic closures, I do not use these for my wallet, keys or phone and thus these items get put into the interior and get lost among all the stuff I have crammed in there).

Finally, after only a couple months of gentle use, the plastic adjustment buckles on the strap broke and the thread along the main outside zipper ripped and frayed. I didn't have a receipt so Babies R Us would not take it back for an exchange. So, after being stuck with it for a year I am looking for a new bag. This one is going to end up in the trunk of my car as an emergency bag.

2.0 out of 5 stars handy but not sturdy, March 4, 2006
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Sling Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I really wanted a messenger stlye bag so that it would not fall off my shoulder when carrying the baby, this fits that description, however, in just 2 months the lining came apart. i wanted something daddy friendly, but this bag is not big enough even for the essentials (diapers, change of clothes, bottles, and formula dispenser). it is a nice looking bag but i do not recomend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars I like this bag but..., August 21, 2005
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Sling Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
My husband and I have been using this bag nearly daily since our son was born 3 months ago. We both like the compact size, which has been great for having the essentials on hand when we make the rounds to the grocery store, grandparents house, etc. I'm not a purse carrier, and my husband certainly isn't either, so this works great for us. We can pack 4-6 diapers, travel wipes, a spare onesie, a couple of small toys, and still have room for my wallet, keys and cell phone in the front packet. It allows us to be hands free while carrying it and stowes easily in the stroller bin.

However, I was packing it today and noticed that the inner nylon lining has torn away from the seam on the back side. Since it is frayed as well I can't sew it back on, so unless I can find a way to glue it back, we may be replacing this bag soon. Since it gets daily use, I can only see this getting worse. I'm really disappointed with this, since I like the bag so much, and don't relish the idea of shopping for another diaper bag.

I'd have given five stars because I like the design so much, but the quality of construction almost knocked it to 2 stars for me. Hang on to your receipt if you buy this bag, just in case!

2.0 out of 5 stars Contrary to its name RIPSTOP sling, it does rip, September 26, 2005
This review is from: Eddie Bauer Sport Sling Diaper Bag (Baby Product)
I registered for this diaper bag because it wasn't huge and it was a neutral color. I did not want a bag with Pooh bear or any other characters on it. Although it is on the small side it served its purpose well until it started falling apart. The lining on the inside ripped and would get stuck in the zipper everytime you zipped the bag closed. The strap was also starting to tear away from the bag. I only used this bag for about 4 months before returning it for something else. The manager at Babies R Us let me exchange it but said normally they wouldn't because normal wear and tear is not covered. I was not overly rough on this bag and I thought something made by Eddie Bauer might be a little more durable then what it was. So beware of this bag, it may not be worth the trouble.

All in all well worth the money I paid for it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice concept, poor execution, April 10, 2006

I chose this bag because it doesn't scream "diaper bag," the material doesn't attract dirt and the two front pockets make keys and cards easily accessible. I thought wearing the cell phone case right on your chest was a nifty idea, too.

That said, I hate this bag!!! For starters, it is cumbersome. It's big for no reason, because nothing seems to fit in there! Everytime the bag is set down, the cell phone case goes upside down and the phone falls out. It's not made for a petite person...even though the strap is adjustable, it still was too low. I can't comment on the durability of this bag because I returned it right away and bought a Skip Hop instead. Now THERE'S a diaper bag!

I am a first time mom and registered for this diaper bag. I wanted something I could carry easy. It is very easy to carry, however my daughter is less than 6 months and it is already ripping and falling apart. It also not very big and I had trouble fitting all the items I needed to pack inside. I ended up buying a back-pack from Pottery Barn that I absolutely LOVE!

I definately do not recommend this item.

I enjoy using this diaper bag because it fits comfortably around your body. It is also very stylish and is made from a very durable material. I have also gotten a lot of compliments from dads wishing they had a diaper bag like mine to carry around instead of the more prettier colored ones that they have for their children
