5.0 out of 5 stars The sequel was outstanding & want it re-issued for customers
The sequel to " Eddie and the Cruisers" ; " Eddie Lives" was so realistic and satisfying a movie that I have seen. Nothing compares to this type of movie and plot. 3.0 out of 5 stars Bring it out on DVD
I totally agree with all the writers who want this brought out on DVD. I have the original Eddie and would love to have this on DVD. VHS is old school. DVD is the new way to go.

The sequel to " Eddie and the Cruisers" ; " Eddie Lives" was so realistic and satisfying a movie that I have seen. Nothing compares to this type of movie and plot. The way Eddie re-invents himself after his supposive death and also, how he re-enters his past through the present day in the movie is heartfelt and moving. Resurfacing to his past after so many years brings so many emotions to mind; it really makes you feel like you are experiencing it as well. The music throughout this movie and the previous movie are so perfect and still belong in the 90's. Lets just hope this movie is reissued to video soon; so that we all may be priveledged to own a copy of the sequel "Eddie Lives" very soon. Everyone I know loves this sequel. Good luck to all of us--at owning a copy. I give it 5 plus stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eddie and the Cruisers 2 - Eddie Lives!, November 27, 1999

What a great movie and soundtrack. The Beaver Brown Band, who recorded the soundtracks, did an outstanding job. Michael Pare played the role with tenacity. I would like to see both movies re-released as a set. Let's do it Amazon!

Please Amazon, do what you can to bring this video back into production. I check this site weekly to see if it has been released. One of the best sequel movies I've ever seen. Michael Pare is so convincing in this character that you forget the music is dubbed. John Cafferty and Beaver Brown Band are EXCELLENT. A must for true rock-n-roll fans everywhere. I think both the Cruiser movies could be released again and the teens of today would go for them. Good rock-n-roll NEVER DIES!

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely love this movie and Michael Pare!!, September 24, 1999

I have been wild about the first "Eddie" movie since it first came out, and even wilder about this second one! I could never understand when it came out in 1989 why it was not well received at that time. I had a fit over it when I first saw it in the theater. Michael Pare was superb in both of them. I am delighted to see that other fans now are discovering this terrific rebirth of Michael Pare as Eddie and the great music! Wish you could somehow let the producer and Michael Pare know that there are many of us fans out here who want this video re-released so that others can discover it. I believe Michael Pare was somewhat disappointed that it did not do very well when it was first released in movie theaters, and I know he would be so thrilled to know that people are still discovering it and loving it! I, too, have seen it many, many times and never tire of it. Give it to the public again, Amazon!!

Eddie Lives! Thank God! He had too much living left to do and too much music left to make. Michael Pare did an incredible job of giving "Eddie" that angst-ridden, tortured soul, unappreciated artist feel. The haunted look in Eddie's eyes throughout the movie draws you in and makes you feel him. The last scene when he's again playing on stage transforms him. The sheer joy at being back where he belongs is so evident. The music reminds you of hot, sweaty, whisky-sippin' summer nights. This is a movie I can watch over and over and it always evokes the same powerful emotions. Please release it on DVD. When I watch it now, I have to hear the static sound that comes from too many watchings on the old VHS. I have the sound track for both movies-two of my favorites out of an extensive collection. Powerful music that always gets a reaction!! Please do something about getting us a DVD

4.0 out of 5 stars Sequels rarely get better than this!!, April 8, 2003

Despite the ... bad reviews this film received I can tell you I have probably seen this film fifteen times and highly recommend it. This story line almost has more to do with the original book than the first movie (though in the original book Eddie is definately dead-it's no secret there is a funeral). Anyone who liked the first movie will love this video. The songs are great. It's a musicians movie. I say this because it is the real theme of the whole movie. There are alot of inside things that Eddie says that will appeal greatly to musicians. I am hoping for a DVD. My video is a "Long Play" speed video. Don't miss the CD "EDDIE AND THE CRUISERS: THE LOST RECORDINGS". It is a short but interesting mix of music and dialoge edits from both EDDIE 1 And EDDIE II.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Eddie, January 25, 2006

I absolutely loved Eddie and the Cruisers. For me, the sequel was hit and miss. It was great seeing Eddie, Sal, and references to certain key band members from the first film again (not to mention the great music by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band), but the first movie revolved around Tom Berenger's character Frank, ala "Wordman". The absence of his character in the second movie was disappointing, but I understand that there was a need to center around Eddie this time. After realizing that Eddie was still alive after the events of the first film, obviously audiences were intrigued as to why Eddie did what he did. And while it's great to finally get those answers directly from the horse's mouth, the sequel changes certain key elements from the first film. For instance, the beach scene that took place between Eddie and Wordman, was spliced and re-edited to show Sal in Wordman's place. Also, the unreleased tapes "Season in Hell" were given to the character Doc to distribute, and not Sal as the sequel would lead you to believe. It's almost as if they wiped the slate clean for the sequel.

While the plot is simple (and at times a little predictable), it nevertheless is entertaining to watch. After Eddie Wilson's "death", Eddie and the Cruisers's music skyrocketed to the top of the charts. And no matter where Eddie goes, he is constantly reminded not only what was, but what could have been. Despite being "deceased", we find that Eddie is still making music. And it's through a new band that Eddie (or Joe as he is called in sequel) realizes that he will never be truly happy unless he's not out there doing what he does best.

On a side note, it was kind of disappointing in not seeing the rest of the band members from the first movie in the sequel. It would have been interesting in seeing their reaction to the assumed deceased front runner live on stage at the concert that took place at the end of the film. But that's just my fanboyism reaching out.

Either way, Eddie and the Cruisers is one of my all time favortie movies. The sequel was decent, but it could have been far better. I love old time rock and roll, and the music by John Cafferty in these films was truly exceptional. For me, Eddie and the Cruiser's II gets three stars, but the excellent music deserves a star all on it's own.
