This one was kind of a cash grab by the record company,
By William J. Eichelberger "I will not go quietly" (Ft. Thomas, KY) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes (Audio CD)
After the stunning success of the original John Cafferty & Beaver Brown album, (the soundtrack to the Eddie And The Cruisers movie,) big things were predicted for this bar band from Rhode Island. Unfortunately, the second album, the worthwhile Tough All Over, pretty much got ignored by the public, many of whom thought that Eddie and his Cruisers were a real band. (The husband of a co-worker swore to me that he saw them in concert when he was a kid in the early '60's. He got really cheesed off at me when I laughed at him.) When Tough All Over failed to set cash registers ringing like the debut, and Roadhouse did worse, JC & BB got shuffled to the back burner. This is an odds and sods collection meant to do nothing more than clean out the vaults and make a little of the record company investment back. The one gem on the album is the combined first two cuts, Rock & Roll Dialogue which segues into On The Dark Side. I always like On The Dark Side, but the brooding intro kind of left me cold. The first two cuts on this disc eliminate that intro for what turns out to be a really cool version of On The Dark Side. I use it (well, used it,) whenever I had the occasion to make a tape or cd for anyone, and I have yet to have a complaint. This shouldn't be a high dollar buy for you, but if you see it cheap, it's worth having.

Well I would like to take this time to say that the whole Eddie And The Cruisers series is outstanding no matter what the music has so much emotion and power in it , that it's unreal ! It is the best series of all time in my book with or without Tender Years. The movies and the soundtracks.

Great CD, but where is Tender Years? They need to re-issue this and the original Eddie, bringing back Tender Years. That song is hot. Someone tell me: do those import versions have it?
