5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Well I would like to take this time to say that the whole Eddie And The Cruisers series is outstanding no matter what the music has so much emotion and power in it , that it's unreal ! It is the best series of all time in my book with or without Tender Years. The movies and the soundtracks.

3.0 out of 5 stars This one was kind of a cash grab by the record company

3.0 out of 5 stars This one was kind of a cash grab by the record company, December 30, 2003
This review is from: Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes (Audio CD)
After the stunning success of the original John Cafferty & Beaver Brown album, (the soundtrack to the Eddie And The Cruisers movie,) big things were predicted for this bar band from Rhode Island. Unfortunately, the second album, the worthwhile Tough All Over, pretty much got ignored by the public, many of whom thought that Eddie and his Cruisers were a real band. (The husband of a co-worker swore to me that he saw them in concert when he was a kid in the early '60's. He got really cheesed off at me when I laughed at him.) When Tough All Over failed to set cash registers ringing like the debut, and Roadhouse did worse, JC & BB got shuffled to the back burner. This is an odds and sods collection meant to do nothing more than clean out the vaults and make a little of the record company investment back. The one gem on the album is the combined first two cuts, Rock & Roll Dialogue which segues into On The Dark Side. I always like On The Dark Side, but the brooding intro kind of left me cold. The first two cuts on this disc eliminate that intro for what turns out to be a really cool version of On The Dark Side. I use it (well, used it,) whenever I had the occasion to make a tape or cd for anyone, and I have yet to have a complaint. This shouldn't be a high dollar buy for you, but if you see it cheap, it's worth having.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great music, but find me Tender Years !!, May 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes (Audio CD)
Great CD, but where is Tender Years? They need to re-issue this and the original Eddie, bringing back Tender Years. That song is hot. Someone tell me: do those import versions have it?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Music And Voice Scenes From Both Movies., March 27, 1999

This Is A Great Album That Has Songs And Voice Scenes From Both Movies That Were Not On The Original Soundtracks. The Only Thing Is There Are Two Versions Of This Album Out There. This One Here And There Is An Out Of Print Version That Has The Scene When Joann Sings "Tender Years". The New One (The One Sold Here) Has "Tender Years" Replaced With The Song "SleepWalk" Either Album Is Great. I Suggest Any "Eddie And The Cruisers" Fan make This Album A Part Of Your Collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars A rock and roll fable-Eddie, February 20, 2006
This review is from: Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes (Audio CD)
Quite a unique mix of songs, with many instrumentals ... nyc song, just a matter of time...coupled with Eddie's dialogue on some tracks--'music's gotta live, it's gotta breathe'... bought this album for the addictive guitar riff/solo that Eddie/Rick jams to in 'Eddie and the Cruisers II' -- namely 'Heat of the Night' -- John Cafferty's songs, although Bruce Springsteen-sounding, bring a raw edge to Eddie's persona, and his songs entirely match the mood of the show - esp 'Just a matter of time' - a retrospective song on lost dreams regained somewhere down the road ...

2.0 out of 5 stars Lost and Found, April 29, 2008
This review is from: Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes (Audio CD)
If you have followed and enjoyed the movies chronicling the fictional rock band, Eddie and the Cruisers - Eddie and the Cruisers (1983) & Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives (1989) - then the CD may be a means to bring the story to an audio conclusion.

Issued in 1991, it is the "unreleased tapes" that was a major part of the storyline in the first movie. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band again portray Eddie and the Cruisers, but these recordings have a more unpolished sound of a demo tape, in an obvious way to closely follow the movie scripts.

For the uninitiated, the 49 seconds of Eddie's Confession will be nothing short of puzzling, since it explains the major mystery which would only be known by watching the movies. And with the total running time of a few ticks under 30 minutes, this may ultimately be an unsatisfying game of lost and found.

4.0 out of 5 stars Final Chapter, July 27, 2007
This review is from: Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes (Audio CD)
As a long-time fan of the Eddie & The Cruisers movies this cd is the perfect compliment to the first movie which seemed to be about the missing tapes. Granted, the music is courtesy of John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band but it's good music and I'm enjoying the cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars the unreleased tapes, March 9, 2006
This review is from: Eddie & The Cruisers: The Unreleased Tapes (Audio CD)
This soundtrack was just as good as the first soundtrack of Eddie and the Cruisers. It has all the makings for a relaxing but also a get up and dance evening.
