Editorial Reviews

Eddie Izzard is one of only four comedians to ever play Madison Square Garden and he is the only one from England. This live sold out show was the final stop on his "Stripped" tour of 2010, now on DVD for the first time. In Eddie s own words, the show is "about everything that has ever happened... with a few gaps" as he runs through social commentary, witty observations and quite a few "off the subject" tangents. From God & politics to history and even ancient Latin, Eddie s genius shines in this tour de force his first DVD release since 2009 s Live From Wembley.

My stomach still hurts after watching this! I have been an Eddie Izzard fan for years and this definitely did not disappoint. New material, old material, a mix of something for everyone. You don't have to be a fan to enjoy this because he does a great job of making it accessible to everyone. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! There are subtitles for the hearing impaired also.

I was lucky enough to see Eddie's tour when it hit the Pittsburgh area for this run and was very happy to see the DVD finally available. It has everything that you want from Eddie (historical reference, religious explanations, bees!) and much more. He seems very relaxed this time around and in excellent form.

The only complaint that I have is that whoever was hired to do the subtitles for the DVD was totally crap at it. They either couldn't understand Eddie's style and typed in what made sense to them instead of what was actually spoken or they just plain didn't care. Other than this minor point, I was totally satisfied.

Eddie Izzard is amazing. Very intelligent material without being pedantic; more of a monologist (is that even a word?) than a comedian. It seems hard for stand-up comedians to become actors and then to successfully go back to stand-up. He seems to do both very very well.

You have to pay attention, there are no quick cheap one-liners here, Mr. Izzard works for the laughs. I love this guy and this is a solid performance.

Showing some of his old style and comic genius. This is a very good show. Like girlfriends, the first will always be the best, but the current one is near as good.

Love Eddie, but he often gets so wrapped up in his own cleverness that he runs a particular riff way past the point where it's funny or even entertaining.

Giving his love of infusing history into his comedy (note to previous reviewer, not a "gimmick", he jokes about the history we are taught, and he gives us food for thought, correcting the -oh-so-erroneous) I found the DVD funny, but not the constant hilarity of past stand up shows.

Loved the minor mention of Mrs. Badcrumble, and the i-am-laughing-inside-as-well look.

As to the debunking of silly christian (and other religions, he is not prejudiced) ancedotes - Noah's Ark in particular - he hit it out of the ballpark. NOT OFFENSIVE at all. I am somewhat surprised that any opinion would be Eddie Izzard is offensive. I have found him to be the least offensive comedian. And I watch a LOT of comedians.

Good, but not great. Worth buying and keeping in the DVD collection.
