Another, the future world champion Michael Schumacher, was pinched from his grasp after just one auspicious race. He has reported on Formula One since 1986 and his previous books include The New Villeneuve: The Life of Jacques Villeneuve (Bloomsbury), Damon Hill: My Championship Year (Little,Brown) and Schumacher: The Life of the New Formula One Champion (Bloomsbury).
