4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Music That Transcends Musical Genres!
Although I believe 30% of my bodily fluids are pure rock & roll, there are a few country artists from my "Wild Oats" days (Late 70s-early 80s) whose music is pure American popular history set to music. Eddie Rabbitt was at the top of my list at the time, and remains there today (Sadly, he died of lung cancer in 1999).

I hope that one day a record...

3.0 out of 5 stars Original Greatest Hits
I not really reviewing this CD, I'm looking for the 1979 Eddie Rabbitt Greatest Hits (Electra?). I've got the cassette (2nd copy), and have looked everywhere for the CD. I don't think it exists, but I'm not giving up the search. The cassette is ALWAYS in my road trip box and I don't know what I'll do if/when it wears out. If anybody can help me out, I'll be deeply...

Eddie Rabbitt was at the top of my list at the time, and remains there today (Sadly, he died of lung cancer in 1999).

I hope that one day a record company wil step up to the plate and release a truly comprehensive "Greatest Hits" colection for this talented Artist. While my personal Rabitt songs are included here ("Step By Step," "You & I," and "You Can't Run From Love"), There are a dozen Gaping omisions here, beginnng with "You Don't Love Me Anymore" from 1978 to "Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonight" from 1983! What's with these record companies? Kenny Rogers has no less than EIGHTEEN compilation albums out, excluding imports! While Kenny also put out some good songs during this time, he's a 10th the artist that Eddie Rabbitt was. Here's hoping that Rhino Records (Who did a simillar service for Christopher Cross earlier this year) will one day give this artist the showcase his work deserves. Until then, I'l continue to keep this CD on "Heavy Rotation" on my stereo!

If you're still looking for it, "The Room At The Top Of The Stairs" can be found on the compilation Eddie Rabbitt 36 All-Time Greatest Hits, at Costco. I bought mine last week in Boise ID, but sad to say, Greg McDowell, songs like "Step By Step", "You and I", "You Can't Run From Love" and "Someone Could Lose a Heart Tonight" are NOT part of this collection, so the record companies still have work to do. Thank goodness I at least have them on old cassettes! It does however include "You Don't Love Me Anymore".

Several of the songs on this 3-CD set were new to me. Some were really great, others "all right". But I agree with many reviewers; we lost a good 'un when Eddie passed away.

Hope this information helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars EIGHT TOP TEN HITS! A nice pocket of Rabbitt hits., May 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
It seems there is no such thing as a comprehensive collection
of Eddie Rabbitt hits at this time.
Although, if you get four certain c.d.'s,
you will aquire 35 of Rabbitt's 43 songs that charted between 1974 and 1991.

This c.d. is a pocket of 8 hits between 1981 and 1985,
(skipping 3 for that time period).
The other two songs, "Years after you" is an album track,
& "Runnin' with the wind" is found again on the "Jersey boy" album.

The four c.d.'s that will bring together 35 hits are:
1. "The Platinum collection", 22 tracks, 2006 Warner Platinum. = 14 top ten hits.
2. "10 Best Series, greatest hits", 10 tracks, 1995 Cema. = 8 top ten hits.
3. "Great hits of Eddie Rabbitt" 10 tracks,
1989 B.M.G. and R.C.A. = 8 top ten hits, & 2 b-sides.
These 8 tracks are all of the R.C.A. singles.
4. "Eddie Rabbitt, Jersey boy" 10 tracks, 1990 Capitol. = 5 charted songs.

So, this is more than meets the eye as far as Rabbitt hits.
There aren't any liner notes,
but if your putting together the Rabbitt's hits, this c.d. is one to get.
All original recordings, and great sound.
Comments as to the hits on the other C.D.'s
can be found at each C.D. location under majormusiclover.

5.0 out of 5 stars EDDIE RABBITT BOX SET, November 30, 2006
By
This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I agree with alot of the people reviews here. I bought this cd and was disappointed. There is alot of hits missing. Why is it that Lionel Richie, Kenny Rodgers, John Denver, and countless others, can come out with box sets but Eddie cannot.

The record companies need to wake up and release a 4-5 compact disc set that includes all of his best hits and songs.

I always loved the song "Just you and I." I wanted to use it for cake sticking at my wedding in November and one week before the wedding, my other CD got scratched. I ordered the Greatest Hits and it arrived the day before the wedding and I was able to have the perfect song for the perfect occasion.
