3.0 out of 5 stars Eddie is Great; But This Title is Misleading
While I love Eddie Rabbitt's music, including all the songs here, this CD is missing some of his big hits (Every Which Way But Loose, Step by Step, Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonite), leaving the title to be very misleading. Of course, since it's the only decent compilation out there, it will have to do for now.

Eddie Rabbitt made quite a career out of singing songs that fit comfortably on both AC and Country stations. Hits like "Gone Too Far" and "I Love A Rainy Night" were played on both and received with much enthusiasm. To my knowledge, Rabbitt was never considered a sell out. Perhaps this is because he consistently churned out songs like "Suspicions" that fit perfectly on AC radio and then turned around and made Country greats like "Drivin' My Life Away" and "Rocky Mountain Music." With Rabbitt, unlike most modern "Country" acts, I believe his intentions were never to be pigeon-holed into one genre of music. He was comfortable singing both Soft Rock and Country music and never seemed intent on becoming one of those forced "Pop" Country stars like so many today. He didn't wear a cowboy hat and tight T-shirts, never sang about drivin' his Chevy down to the lake for a late-night romance with his John Deere queen, and he was never a poser. He was Eddie Rabbitt, no more, no less.

This particular disc of greatest hits is well worth the price. My personal favorite, and probably my all-time favorite tune by Rabbitt, is "Two Dollars In The Jukebox." Though it lacks many of his hits like "Just You And I," "Step By Step," and "Every Which Way But Loose," you can get all of those and more on "Eddie Rabbitt-Greatest Hits" which is almost always coupled with this disc by Amazon in the "Better Together" listing. In fact, the cost of both of these discs together is still cheaper than buying some other, lesser artists greatest hits single disc collections.

I definitely suggest buying this album and the aforementioned "Greatest Hits" disc together if you enjoy Eddie Rabbitt. Fans of artists such as Doug Stone, Conway Twitty, and 80's R&B country will be sure to enjoy this album also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a Bad Song on the Whole Album, July 22, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - All Time Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Just like Eddie Rabbit's life, this album was done too soon. My initial reaction to Eddie's music was indifference. He just wasn't interesting enough for me to rush out and buy any of his albums. My music budget was limited and there was always some other more interesting artist that I wanted to listen to. Now that I can afford to fill the holes in my music collection, I wanted this album mainly to help round out my collection, due to Rabbit's place in music history and because it had a few songs that I liked. After listening to the album, I wish I had bought it much sooner. Rabbit was an exceptionally good singer with a great voice and his talent is really showcased well on this album. He had it all; not only a wonderful singer, but also an exceptional songwriter. Kentucky Rain written for Presley by Rabbit is one of my favorite songs. Eddie seemed to have a way with "rain" songs. His "I Love a Rainy Night" on this album will always be a classic and a favorite. The weakest song on the album is "Pour Me Another Tequila", with a little too much repetition, but it still sounds good, as do all the songs. The sound quality seems quite good on this CD too; very crisp and clear. Some CDs have way too much production and over-orchestration. This one doesn't give that impression at all. The accompanying instrumentals do not overwhelm, so you really get Eddie's voice coming through clear and strong. It's clean and simple and for that reason very listenable. I'll be playing this one over and over again. Anyone who doesn't like this album doesn't know good music. It's sad that I didn't really discover Rabbit until after his death. What a great loss to the music world. This is a must have album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection but very incomplete, May 17, 2005

This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - All Time Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Eddie's passing was a great loss to all his fans and now we don't have anyone who can really fill his shoes. He has such a sweet voice and his tunes have been some of the most memorable Country Pop songs ever.

However, this collection is strangely missing some very good songs e.g. "Room at the top of the stairs", "You and I" and "You don't love me anymore" which are jewels not to be left out.

Unfortunately there is no one CD with all his good songs in it and one has to buy a few of his so-called "Greatest Hits" albums to enjoy all his great songs. Is this some kind of a marketing ploy or what?

Anyway, I am still waiting for one really good Eddie Rabbitt compilation and hopefully Rhino Music will oblige soon. The good songs in this album are the remarkable "Suspicions" and "I can't help myself". You will be swept off your feet with his laid-back country&western&pop songs done in his inimitable style.

Time to reminisce with Eddie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toe-tappin', finger-snappin' good country music!, May 24, 2000
This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - All Time Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Eddie Rabbitt consistently delivers some of the liveliest country tunes available, and this collection delivers those songs in rapid-fire fashion.

A DJ's delight, Eddie Rabbitt's All Time Greatest Hits delivers one big hit after the other, from the powerful Hearts on Fire to the driving I Love a Rainy Night (guaranteed to jump-start any dance). Other top songs include Drivin' My Life Away, Rocky Mountain Music, Two Dollars in the Jukebox and I Can't Help Myself.

There are a few top ten hits missing from this disc, until a better one comes along, this will do just fine. To put it in country parlance, this is one helluva good CD!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not All Of The Best!, February 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - All Time Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is a decent cd, but it is missing a lot of material. Does anybody know where you can find the Best Of/Greatest Hits II on cd? Does a cd even exist for that album? I know its available on tape. That album has all of Eddie Rabbitt's best work on it. Its much broader with 20 great songs that includes Step By Step, Every Which Way But Loose, and You And I.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Greats, August 8, 2001

Country music owes a lot to songwriting genius of Eddie Rabbitt. His syncopated rhythms, catchy lyrics and toe-tapping songs helped Country move in a new direction in the 70s. He even wrote songs for Elvis. It's a shame to have lost such a great writer and singer.

If you're looking for a disc where every song on the album is a keeper, this is sure one of them. There is a good mix of country ballads, and rocking tunes to be found here. The album opens with the classic "I Love a Rainy Night" will have you waking to a sunny day. The upbeat "Drivin' My Life Away" will have you longing for the road, and if your foot is not moving to "Rocky Mountain Music" you're probably dead anyway. Rabbitt's ability to write slow songs is shown in the samples here. "Pour Me Another Tequila", "Hearts On Fire", and "Suspicions" will pull at your emotions.

The title of this album is a bit misleading as not of his "All Time" greatest hits appear here, but what is here is definitely a sampling of his many greatest hits. As Billy Joel and a great many other musicians with a long career have proven to us, there is nothing wrong with releasing multiple volumes of greatest hits. Hopefully, the future will bring a box-set in memory of such a great man.

5.0 out of 5 stars NINE TOP TEN HITS ---- AND "DO YOU RIGHT TONIGHT" !, May 9, 2010
This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - All Time Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is nine top ten hits, and one songs that is sorta hard to find.
"Do you right tonight" didnt chart but was 15 weeks on the radio in 1976,
and many country folks know it well.
One other song here that seems hard to come by is "Gone to far" #1 in 1980.

Eddie Rabbitt landed 43 songs on the chart between 1974 and 1991,
here are ten of the best of them.
This entire c.d. is upbeat, non-stop good listening.

Rabbitt was continually on top of the charts from 1974 to 1991.
In that time he had 34 top ten hits.
This 1991 Warner Brothers album is a nice set of hits, and has excelent sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eddie Rabbitt' All Time Greatest Hits, July 30, 2002

I love this CD. Even though I just got it yesterday, I really felt that I had to write a review. I happen to agree with the others who reviewed this CD, it is missing some of his hits. I was hoping it had featured his duet with Crystal Gayle, but unfortunately it doesn't. However, having the song 'Suspicions' makes up for it. I think 'Suspicions'is one of the sexiest songs ever recorded!!
I highly recommend this CD. It's just unfortunate that some songs that should be included on this greatest hits CD are missing. I still give it five stars though!

4.0 out of 5 stars fantastic album but missing a few, April 5, 2002
This review is from: Eddie Rabbitt - All Time Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I really love this CD. If you want all of Eddies good ones, this is a good start. Unfortunetly, it only has 10 songs and there are probably 5 others I can think of that I'd like to see on it. When I buy a "Greatest Hits" album, I expect to get ALL of them. Ex: it does not have "You can't run from love" nor "American Boy" nor "The Wanderer".
