The Edelbrock Performer IAS Shock Absorber features the patented Inertia Active System. This exclusive design helps in switching instantly between a soft and a firm circuit for superior handling and a smooth ride. On smooth roads, the inertia activated valve closes to give a firm ride, excellent cornering and reduced body sway. Under rough conditions, the valve opens to make the shocks softer and more responsive. The variable dampening rate improves handling as well as ride comfort. Higher dampening force is applied when it is needed to control excess chassis force and lower dampening force is applied when the wheel hits bumps, pot-holes, railroad tracks or any other surface irregularities.

I studied and shopped for shocks to improve the ride and bring some new life back into my 97 Chevy Silverado. The truck is in overall great shape, but the ride and handling had begun to deteriorate and it was no fun to drive anymore.
I installed these Edelbrock shocks and the problems were solved. The ride and handling are as good as a new truck. I wish I had installed them much earlier. They are somewhat expensive, but if you want to update an older vehicle and avoid a new car note, these shocks are a great investment.
