En 1996, Daho a quinze ans de carrière et il a connu l'hystérie du très grand succès une dizaine d'années auparavant. À quarante ans il abandonne ses interrogations un peu simplettes du genre le chanteur de variétés qui veut faire rockeur branchouille et sort un excellent album, «Éden» ou «ÉdenDaho» (il a toujours aimé ce genre de calembours pas très fins mais là il faut avouer que c'est plus réussi que le titre du précédent album «Résérection»). On a envie de dire qu'il sort enfin un excellent album et que ce n'est pas trop tôt. Rien ne dépare la réalisation artistique, les textes sont enfin à la hauteur, la musique ne fait plus orgue Bontempi, il se détend un peu et va même jusqu'à se souvenir d'«I feel love» de Donna Summer dans «Rendez-vous au jardin des plaisirs». Enfin, il chante «Les bords de Seine» avec la reine de la bossa-nova, Astrud Gilberto, «The girl from Ipanema» en personne. Comme quoi, il ne fallait pas désespérer...

This album was given to me by an ardent French fan and it is the first time I have heard him. One or two of the songs are weird pastiches, but most of the album is great to listen to. I especially like Daho's method of non-singing- he sings with such ease that he's almost not trying. This album is worth investigation.

This is a beautiful album. Daho's breathy baritone is almost comically stereotypical, but it contributes to a wonderfully exotic feel. The songs and arrangements are superb, and for 1996 (when it was recorded) bang up to date. On several tracks, especially the housey "rendez-vous au jardin des plaisirs", the sound is prescient of Madonna's recent work with William Orbit. Set sail for this Eden.
