I found this package of red quinoa at a local health food store. I'd never bought quinoa before, so I thought it was a little expensive. But now that I've taken a trip to another natural food store -- the kind that carries food in bulk -- I realize it's the going rate.

That said, I really love this red quinoa. The Eden Organic brand is much more tasty than the more expensive kind that I got at the bulk health food store. After having regular quinoa at a picnic last week, I must say that both of the brands of red quinoa have more flavor and interest than regular quinoa.

I have two all-time favorite recipes now, one that mixes the quinoa with craisins, sunflower seeds, feta cheese, scallions and cilantro with a mustard vinaigrette (my own recipe). The other salad (on the Wegmans website) mixes the red quinoa with avocado, corn, tomatoes, scallions and cilantro in a lemon vinaigrette.

First let me say that the product arrived quickly and was as described. Now, I have had Quinoa a number of times and several different ways, but I had never actually cooked it myself. I have wanted to, since this grain is immeasurably better for you than just about any other grain but I was fearful of what would happen when I did cook with it. There is NO NEED to fear it. This stuff is a breeze to cook. Easier than rice on the stovetop (PLUS- It cooks well in a rice cooker). I have been trying it many ways and am ready to order more.

VERY tasty item. Rather nutty and flavorful. Cooks up quickly and is never sticky. Recomment it to every one not only those who can not eat gluten.

While this product is Organic, it is not USDA Organic. Note that it also does require significant washing - it is apparently not prewashed. That's unless you enjoy hemolytic saponins. You're paying too much for too little. In contrast, the Alter Eco and Ancient Harvest brands of red quinoa are USDA Organic. Why bother with Eden?

Very versatile, tasty grain and much more reasonable to purchase here in this quantity than buying it a package at a time in the local store.

This is a great product, but the offering at 10 bucks is just crazy. choose vitacost and it is about half price for the same item. And they are great with shipping and delivery.
We cook this per recipe onthe package, and mix it into smoothies for a great mouth feel, and added nutrition.

Fair Trade is more expensive than none Fair Trade product. I just wish it was a Fair Trade product since many producers sell organic which is the most common form of quinoa sold anywhere but a very limited Fair Trade organic quinoa and this certainly is not. Prices of red quinoa has been going up to $10 a pound, which is the most expensive quinoa, than black, rainbow and yellow.

KEEN-Waah... A complete protein source, a seed related to other healthy cousins like spinach and beets. In a pot I place quinoa, frozen peas, carrots, corn, add water and tomato paste. Spinach is added at the end the last minute. Stewing tomatoes for a half hour increases the cancer fighting lycopene content by 35 percent. Cooking also unlocks another nutrient, beta-carotene, in corn and carrots since heat breaks down the fibrous cell walls, releasing more of these antioxidants. The same goes for spinach but then you need to get your vitamin C from something else since that is the first vitamin which is depleted with heat. I saute lots of onion separately then in ten minutes I add paprika, cumin, dillweed, gram marsala, crushed red pepper, turmeric and lots of garlic 2 x 2 Pound Fresh Garlic USA California Heirloom Monviso Gilroy Finest (4 Pounds Total), mix it well and add the mix to the pot and let it sit without heat for five minutes. This is what vegans consume instead of beef since it is a complete protein. Greens, vegetables, nuts, seeds, etc. may have protein but the fact is that only quinoa has a complete protein and all others do not since all others are missing few amino acids here and there but not quinoa. I rarely ever consume beef, chicken, etc.
