This is a fascinating premise. I love Post-Apocalyptic and Dystopian, and this is a perfect blend of both. The world building in EDEN was amazing. From the first chapter, I pictured Eden vividly, and loved the idea of a small world they created and maintained that they had to keep moving to outrun the Fallen. It's original and fresh.

Eve was difficult to connect with at first, but after something was revealed (no spoilers) I understood her better, and I truly sympathized with her. What I loved about her was she was tough and just plain out bad. Being able to fight and pretty much kick everyone's bum is always a plus with girl leads for me.

For those who love the love triangle, this book has you covered. For the most part, I always know whose team I'm on, but Taylor really made this difficult. Both guys were awesome. West truly had me going at first: He's gorgeous, strong, and has so much to offer Eve, but Avian has all the same qualities LOL I mean, both of them love her to death and would do anything for her, and there's not a flaw I could find with either one. I loved their banter and tug of war they had going over Eve. Neither of them was willing to back down. In the end, I'm glad she finally made a decision between them and we don't have to wait for the next book to discover this like most stories.

The plot was strong also. Although a lot of the story centered on the love triangle, I thought the action and twists involving the Fallen was well balanced. Eve's transformation through the story was evident, and I was left satisfied by the end, except for the future of one character. I really want to know what's going to become of him. If there's going to be a second book, I think it will have a lot of him, or at least I'm hoping!... This is a great read and I recommend it to anyone who loves Post-Apocalyptic, Dystopian, smoldering love triangles, and something original in YA. Read more ›

After having read Keary Taylor's Fall of Angels series, I definitely can say that I was looking forward to reading Eden. I was even more excited after reading on Taylor's blog that she was too impatient to wait until her scheduled release date and had decided to release it early. I finished it in about a day. It was one of those stories that made it difficult to put it down and easy to loose track of time.

The book was written very well, a few errors here and there, but not enough to really bother me. The thing that really captivated me were the characters. Eve was extremely believable and I felt as if I had connected with her. All of the hardships and emotions she was experiencing felt very real. As Eve explored the feelings and complications of love, I was right there with her just as indecisive as she was: West or Avian?

I was back and forth with those two. I couldn't decide either. Both were swoonworthy in their own ways. Avian was the good guy, always there for Eve. He had that caring and tender way about him. Then there was West, that snarky and sacastic guy that easily brought a smile to my face.

The feelings Eve develops for both Avian and West were very believable. There isn't any instalove in this book. The romance that blossoms is genuine. The action was a little slow at times, but the emotional plot constantly kept it moving along at a highly satisfying rate.

All in all, an amazing book. It's one that I will undoubtably read again. I'm so glad I bought it. Eden was positively worth every penny.

I thought this was going to be a cool post-apocalyptical read about fighting cybernetic robots. Like The Walking Dead meets Terminator. I was wrong.

Instead, it was a long LONG book (seemed long to me, anyway) about "Which guy will I choose? Oh, I just can't decide!" And there wasn't even any sex or romance to make up for any of it!

To sum up the book:
"I like THIS guy... but I like THAT guy!" "I'm going on a scouting mission!" "What is love?" "I briefly fought a robot!" "Which guy will I pick!" "Yay! we fairly easily and simplistically defeated the robots!" "I had a flash of inspiration and finally chose a guy. The other one might die, I don't know, and I don't particularly care." End book.

There. Now you don't have to read it.

See that folks? Yes, thats five stars!
Why? Well just sit down people and let me begin to list the reasons:

1. There is some major awesome going on with this cover. It's beautiful in a bad gritty sort of way. It's not the girl next door or the old school covers directed at the older youth. It gets down to business with a swift hard Chuck Norris kick to the eyes. The cover also represents the book's plot with that metalic in the eye and the roughed up decrilit script. It is quite frankly pure awesome!

2. The book's plot? Not the same'ole dystopian. It's UNIQUE. It's ORIGINAL, It's AWESOME....yes that word again, AWESOME.
Set in a post apocalyptic world, life is vastly different being overrun by human/cybernetic peeps called The Fallen. Few humans remain, thanks to the nanorobitics that was introduced into society for bodily improvement. Apparently, somebody misjudged the new technology, for it wasn't long after the introduction to nanorobotics that the people with upgrades were completely taken over by their new parts. From there the botics infection just spread through touch.

Eve, the books main character, is trying to eke out a living with a small group of surviors. Her group is going slightly better than crappy on the survival scale when she comes across a small group of strangers. Then things get interesting.
The Fallen start showing up and Eve's group is forced to move.

3. The writting style
Mrs. Taylor is obviously an expert at weaving a tale. Eden was amazingly thurough on description but without too much input. She doesn't overwhelm with needless words that need a dictionary. Nor does she use the standard descriptive phrases found in so many common YA novels....
She quite simply, tells a tale that jumps out of the book and straight into your minds eye. There is no struggle to imagine what she's trying to convey. It practically leaps into your lap, bitch slaps your face and screams, "BEST BOOK EVA!".
Okay, maybe not to that extint but damn near close!

4, The characters.
Holy Hell these characters are beleviable. They have depth, not just motives.
They were so well rounded that I felt like long lost bosom pals! They were people I could find in my everyday life. What's more is they weren't sterotyped. Rather they were regular people with wants and needs in a cyborg ruled world. I could see myself in their place though in all actuality I'd rather not have such a reality.
The main character and heroine, is by no means a pansy member of venus. Nope, she is, like all my favorite heroine, the Bomb Diggity of her dystopian world. She, like the beautiful cover, is kickass.
I love when stories shy away from the whole disney girl needs man formula.

5. The Climax of Eden
Oh sweet baby Jesus, the big action scene towards the end of Eden left my heart racing and my palms sweating. The action was high and I so did not want it to end! The big fight scene was byy far the greatest part of Eden.

To end this review, I can only say that Eden is one of my favorite dystopians. Everything was on such a high level that I simply could not grade this book any less than the perfect five stars. It's originality, character build, prose, and cover make Eden a well rounded read that I think all YA/Dystopian fans should check out. Read more ›
