This is a great product. It's not as finicky as arrowroot powder which if heated too long will not thicken. I made the recipe on the back with some additional changes and it was fabulous!! My kids loved it and it's a great substitute for the very unhealthy cans of cherry pie filling on the store shelfs.
Here's what's on the back:
QUICK APPLE CHERRY PUDDING (I call my new reciipe "Cherry Pie Filling"- used for cobbler)
4 C EDEN organic apple cherry juice (I used Santacruz unpast. OG apple juice)
(I also added 1 1/2 Tbl of Dynamic Health Black Cherry Juice Concentrate)
4 Tbl EDEN Kuzu dissolved in 5 Tbl cold water
Place all in a saucepan, bring to a boil, and stir constatnly until thick.
Kuzu is also good for sothing the stomach and strengthening the intestines. this would be a great thing to give your child if he's suffering from a tummy ache.

This product is great for thickening any sauce or dish.

My girlfriend uses this to make the most amazing lemon meringue pies. Compared to corn starch or other traditional thickeners, this stuff is easier to use, tastes better, and apparently it is also healthier.

With this Kuzu there is no "chalky" texture like you get with some other thickeners, it's very smooth.

The price is a bit high, but I would say the results are worth it.

All around excellent product.

I use kudzu as thickener in lieu of cornstarch in both savory and sweet applications. It is a great alternative with a number of health benefits, especially your digestive system.

Basic directions: Dissolve 1 tsp kudzu in 2 Tbsp of cold water, just to get the lumps out, then add to 1 cup of liquid. Simmer on low heat until the white liquid turns clear, about 2-3 minutes. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools. I make warm berry compote this way for pancake toppings or fruit preserves using less water (leftovers will keep in the fridge for a few weeks). Great way to avoid additives and sweeteners added to store bought products. Eden's website has some recipe ideas, as do a number of books and websites.

A macrobiotic home remedy to strengthen blood and digestive system is Ume-Kudzu: Use directions above, add 1/2 teaspoon of umeboshi paste to the kudzu liquid once in turns clear, simmer on very low another 2-3 minutes. Drink warm.

Yes, the price seems high for a small bag but a little goes a long way. I will never buy cornstarch again. I just wish they'd use a resealable bag or other container.

Been desperate to find a product I could use in place of cornstarch and flour for thickening sauces and gravies. I am seriously allergic to both.

Purchased this and substituted it baking non gluten bread also. I pressed it to a fine powder before I measured it for my receipes.
It worked great.

I use this product to make vegan almond anise biscotti that gets raves from everyone who tries it (and doesn't dislike anise!) I wish I could find it cheaper, but other brands have been subpar.

Great product for IBS and healing weak intestinal walls. Was introduced to Kuzu when adhering to macrobiotic principles many years ago. This item has maintained it's place in my kitchen + wellness cabinet. Great in a diluted apple or pear drink to calm intestines, support healing and clear constipation. Also great for gravies and sauces, puddings, too. Expensive. But worth the investment for it's vast uses and benefits.

This is an excellent thickener and makes great pudding. It is expensive but with this "bulk" 4-pak order is cheaper than elsewhere. It is also recommended for health benefits-- can't testify to this tho.

my nutritionist turned me on to this product as a thickener for gravies for the GAPS diet. It adds virtually no flavor and give a great consistency (like a mix between flour and corn starch). You have to crush it in a mortar and pestle before using and mix with cold liquid before adding to hot. ITS GREAT!
