Eden's Bowy Is More Then Mediocre,
By A Customer
This review is from: Eden's Bowy - The Hunt is On (Vol. 1) (DVD)
I think that because of the wide focus of genres Eden's Bowy gains great appeal. Some people complain of originality problems but I think that to strive for originality is stupid. It is hard to come up with completely original concepts. Secondly people always go with what works and sells. I think Eden's Bowy is a great anime and would gladly show it to anyone new to anime to give them a taste of all the genres. It somehow reminds me of the Final Fantasy Games made into a movie.

Interesting but Incomprehensible!,

While this series isn't one of the greatest I've seen,it isn't a total bomb. The ideas presented in the story really make you stop and think if you can get the idea of what the story is trying to say. However, for the most part,I watched this in total confusion. All I came out with in the end was "Huh?!?".Country boy Yorn gladly does his farming, but often daydreams of visiting Eden,a land of legend which passes overhead through the sky now and then. Little does he know...his wish is about to come true! As Yorn is eating dinner a strange woman with steel claws tries to kill him. His father sacrifices himself to save Yorn. In the meantime,a princess has been kidnapped. The kidnapper hurries to Yorn's destroyed home and convinces him to come on a journey with him, accompanied by a strange girl who helped Yorn drive away his attackers. Thus begins a journey to unravel the mysteries of Yorn's world and the truth, riddled with assasins and countless other dangers. Unfortunately, the plotline of this story is nearly impossible to follow. It is constantly shifting from place to place, story to story, character to character, explaining VERY little. For the most part, the viewer must rely on guesses as to what is going on and hope they are correct,as the scenes are never really explained in full. Although the idea of Eden's Bowy itself is an interesting and well-thought-out one,it is lost in the anime's mess of mysterious characters, strange scenes and almost invisible plotline.

Well...That's very strange,

I have the complete collection...But so far i've only seen this disc.
I've been putting off watching Eden's BoWy due mostly to the lack of good information about it and its horrendous looking cover art. I should have listened to the old adage don't judge a DVD by its case. This is possibly the most intriguing and engaging series I've seen this year. The story is about a boy named Yorn who is annoying and a little reminiscent of a certain young farmer boy on Tatooine. He is joined in his adventure by a mysterious young elf girl who is very very MOE. Endearingly so. He is also joined by an Old man who wants to take him to meet a person of some import. Through the first four episodes the DVD proves remarkably entertaining. It's light humor, and light seriousness. You won't laugh out loud, but you will smirk, it's rated Y7 but I'm through college and It's a fun series that has held me captivated by its simple, yet complex opening act. I'd recommend this to someone who's in Middle school, or out of college with kids...If the cover art has been keeping you back, do give it a shot, it looks better than its DVD case might suggest. Lastly, I accidentally let the dub run, as I tend towards subs, and noticed a tinnyness to the English voices, I'm not sure if it was my sound system, or the actual dub, but I thought i should mention it...the sub does not have that sound, so I'm leaning towards the latter. Since this is an ADV release it's out of print, so I wouldn't sit on this one if you've been meaning to see it, it might start to rise in price soon.
