This is a thin cotton "printed" flag. I don't know what the manufacturer is referring to as sewn-on stripes, but they're not stripes of red and white cloth sewn together. This is just a standard, inexpensive-type printed flag.

Having always flown our Stars and Stripes at my home, and therefore purchased many flags over the years, I can tell you this particular flag is superb. The sewn stripes make it very superior to other flags which can be purchased at any hardware store in this price range. Buy one and fly our flag! You'll be pleased and patriotic at the same time...

I am interested in purchasing an outdoor U.S. flag kit. In my
investigation of these products I have learned much about the wide
array of products available on the market. While the
"Traditional U.S. Flag Kit" offered by Eder Flag
Manufacturing has all of the components necessary to mount and display
the U.S. flag, it seems that a material other than cotton would be
more appropriate. Cotton flags are generally not recommended for
extended outdoor use because 1) they are more prone to fading and
fraying than nylon or polyester flags, and 2) they absorb much more
water than flags made of other fabrics which results in much more
weight and stress on a "relatively thin" metal pole. This
may very well result in the 3-section pole becoming bent after a short
period of use. I would like to be sure that if i purchase this
product, that it would last for an extended period of use. I think the
average consumer would be much better served with a nylon or polyester
flag in the kit. Aside from this apparent weakness, the price seems
to be very reasonable considering the contents of the kit.

My husband purchased this classic flag kit as a surprise. He also spent a bit more and purchased a nylon (nyl-glo colorfast) flag. You could use the flag included and then when it wears out, change over to a new nylon flag which will last longer.

The amazing thing about moving into a community of people who work the land is that they also have great values and I see The American Flag proudly displayed everywhere. They love the land, they love America and they are not afraid to say it.

This set does includes a 3' x 5' cotton flag, a 6' three section (easy-to-assemble) aluminum pole, a plastic eagle which fits into the top of the pole, an easy-to-install flag bracket and other supplies. Everything you need is in the kit.

What I found most intriguing was the little pamphlet telling how to display the flag. Since I grew up overseas, I really have so much to learn! There is information on the "general display" and then how the flag should be carried in parades and ceremonies. It tells how the National Flag represents the "living country" and is considered to be a living thing emblematic of the respect and pride we have for our nation.

There is also a list of 17 special days on which the flag should be displayed. There are three days the flag should be flown at half-staff. Putting a flag up sure is a responsibility.

What I am wondering about is if there are any restrictions on how a flag is used in photography. I took a picture of the flag for the background of the front cover of my cookbook. If anyone knows if there are any rules I should follow, I would love to hear from you.

What I did find surprising was that to dispose of a flag, it should be burned. I can see that burning a flag is not fitting in public as a protest, but I guess you would never just discard a flag because it would just be disrespectful. After reading the pamphlet you will look at the flag in a new way.

What I have noticed is that people rarely put their right hand over their heart while saying the Pledge of Allegiance. For me that shows a true love of country. Our flag represents the highest ideals of individual liberty, justice and equal opportunity for all.

I have looked for a flag for our military home for months .......this is an excellent quality flag with all the hardwar and POLE included!!!!!

Flying the American flag is as traditional as moms apple pie. The flag demonstrates to others the devotion and gratitude that we feel for those who fought for our countries freedom. The upcoming July 4th has prompted me to show my love and devotion with my new 3 foot by 5 foot cotton American flag. The quality of this symbol is as genuine as my love is for my country.

This flag is large and easy to assemble ... God bless the USA....
