(Edgar Allan Poe's The Oval Portrait and Ambrose Bierce's An Arrest)
What a relief to find entertaining adaptations of classic short stories that engross students! Suzanne Delzio, High School Teacher, San Diego, California
I enjoyed both movies! The characters are credible and complex. A haunted mood is established which compels the viewer. Nanny Foster, Media Services Librarian, University of North Carolina at Greensboro
These are technically excellent films that have a meaningful place in high school and college literature film courses. Their length makes them ideal for screenings in regularly scheduled classes, and the films themselves provide wonderful possibilities for a perceptive discussion of film adaptations of fiction. Joe Gomez, Professor of English and Co-director of Film Studies, North Carolina State University
When I watched the films, it made me want to go read the original story! Laurie Whitcomb, Media Services Acquisitions, Pasadena Public Library, California
Both Films will inspire viewers to read works by the two authors and to look for other work by the filmmaker! Jim Clark, Director of Humanities Extension, Educational Publications Department, N.C. State University --Teacher Reviews
