This opera has all the marks of a good opera:--exquisite chromatic harmony and counterpoint --optimal pacing --richness of melody and motifs --variety of mood In fact, I like it better than some of Puccini's better-known operas. While you're at it, I also recommend the Scotto-Bergonzi recording. |
