5.0 out of 5 stars Super-functional, super-cool!, August 1, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: On the Edge 900124 Red Folding Utility Wagon With Handle (Automotive)
I bought this to cart around my two kids (1 and 4) after lots of research. Man, this was a good decision! A million times better than those silly plastic tubs. The quality is fantastic and it couldn't be easier to use. And it fits in the trunk! Every time we use it, I'm asked where I got it. I've considered putting a sign on the back! The bottom is comfortable, but not particularly padded, so I throw a lambskin on the bottom. I've also used it to haul 6 bags of mulch and it's my new way of getting groceries from the car to the house. Again, very functional.

One note- the wheels are rubber and they were super-stinky for a couple of weeks. If you can, off-gas somewhere that's not enclosed (like a car).

Another note, Amazon's price was over $50 cheaper than anywhere else. And believe me, I've looked.

5.0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAN I COULD HAVE IMAGINED!, March 13, 2009

I just got my wagon in the mail today, and I could not be happier with it. I wanted a wagon for my son, but since our family lives so far away I wanted a collapsible one so we could use it on trips and at home. This one is not advertised directly at kids so I hesitated buying it, but I did three days worth of research and did not decide on this one lightly. Who has $150 to waste?

The Fold and Go wagon by Kidwise is the other wagon i was considering, and I'll tell you why I didn't go with that one. #1 The handle doesn't stay up. #2 reviewers left comments on it being hard to steer. #3 The pictures that I saw with kids sitting in the Kidwise brand wagon, the base seemed to be sagging. Which made me concerned about longevity with the majority of the weight being put on the fabric. (Like a fold-up camping chair) #4 the wheels look funny to me. They have a bar that comes off from the wheel and up to the wagon. Now keep in mind I don't own the Kidwise wagon nor have i seen anything more than online photos and reviews.

Now the reason I chose this On the Edge Folding wagon was
#1 The reinforced base. This wagon has a wonderful sturdy metal frame more than 6 bars in the base of the wagon mean no saggy butts, and no stress on the fabric. Sewn into the bottom of the wagon (the part your child would be sitting on) there is a sheet of plastic and thin layer of foam. So its fairly comfy. You can throw one of those square foam baby changing pads in the bottom if its not squishy enough for ya, but my one year old thinks its great as is. Oh and it hold 150lbs.
#2 The handle. This handle is very long and the grip is nice and wide. I am 5ft 10in and I hate leaning over to push or pull something. Standing right next to this wagon the handle is practically in my armpit. It's nice. Plus it just snaps into a clip on the frame of the wagon that hold the handle up out of the mud.
#4 The wheels. They are right up under the base of the frame, and are nice firm rubber all terrain wheels. They turn in every direction very easily and it pulls smooth.
#5 All the little extras. 2 Little mesh cup holder on the outside by the handle. So the kids won't grab your drink.A small mesh bag on the inside for the kids stuff or the sun canopy when not in use. The metal frame even supports a big basket on the back!
#6 The sun canopy. Its easy to put on and off. There is a flexible extending pole on each corner that pulls up and then the tarp is stretched over the top. (easy for one person to do quickly) The poles flex to keep the tarp pulled taunt and there are velcrow strips that come down from the tarp and attach to the wagon to keep it from going anywhere. The poles slide easily and push right back down into the wagon frame when not in use.
There is a little pull strip on the inside of the base of the wagon to fold it up quickly. There is no lock to keep it together but there is a set of padded cloth handles that Velcro together to keep the wagon in the folded position, and allow you to carry or lift it into your vehicle. It has a slip cover that goes over the whole thing when its collapsed. The slip cover has a hole for access to the cloth handle and also two long straps with clips that wrap down around the whole thing to keep it flat and secure.

I do have one comment thats not good or bad, just good to know. It doesn't stand on end when folded. You have to lean it against a wall, and have to play with the wheels a bit to get it to lean without rolling. Also if you are putting a kid in this wagon, since it doesn't have a seat belt built in, I bought a black baby buddy deluxe harness (like $15) that came with secure straps for high chairs or shopping carts. I leave the side straps on the wagon, because thats the only place I use them, and just leave the harness on him while we are out, because its easy to click him into the wagon, or let him down and put the parent lead on it. I'm not a huge fan of "walking your kid" but using a harness as a seat belt in this wagon is perfect! I'll probably buy another harness so I can strap a kid on each end securely.

Throughout this just seems to be a well built, sturdy little wagon. If you can't tell... I love it, and I can't wait to get out and show it off! And someday when the kids are done with it I can use it in the garden or tailgating or whatever those other uses for it were. I just wanted everyone to know its not just for yard work. Your kids will love it too. Mine does!

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly solid, but with quality issues. Not for Disney trips, August 20, 2009

This review is from: On the Edge 900124 Red Folding Utility Wagon With Handle (Automotive)
I certainly appreciate the folding nature of the wagon and the metal frame seems solid. Plastic end caps are not particularly tenaciously placed and after less than a few hours, I have noticed 1 plastic end cover is MIA and 2 are loose. Some damage was evident soon after arrival. There was a tear in the fabric lining on one side and at least one joint was broken. I did not immediately notice the broken joint, and I needed the wagon immediately as I was on vacation and had it delivered to my lodging. It did not prevent me from using the wagon, which the kids love, but it can't be good for the long term durability. Also, the canopy did not come in the box. Calling the company resulted in them notifying me that they will send one to me when it comes back in stock in a couple of weeks. The wagon is definitely an attention getter, but I found out that at Disney World, you cannot take it into the theme park. Because one has to pull it, not push it (due to the placement of the rotating wheels as opposed to the fixed axis wheels), it is considered a tripping hazard. It was kept in customer relations for the day and I was given a voucher for a free stroller rental. If I can shore up the damaged parts, it still ought to be useful on the boardwalk or at a picnic.
